Weekend Update: Return to Normalcy

This weekend was spent trying to return to a normal life after Hurricane Sandy.  Slowly, shops and residences have started getting power back.  I ventured out of the apartment to dinner on Friday with the Scot to the one restaurant in town that had full power AND cable.  I got my heat and hot water back, so I was able to actually look like a functional human being on Friday night.  My office still does not have power, so my brain has turned to mush after a whole week of attempting to work from home.  However, I was lucky that I did not have to go to work because I did not have to wait on line for hours to get gas.  Now that more gas stations have power and Governor Christie instituted the odd-even day rationing, the lines are less than a half hour at most stations in our area.

In another attempt to return to some normal level of functioning this weekend, we attended a surprise 30th birthday party for a friend.  The menu had to be reduced from a western style BBQ to pizza and subs as a result of the storm, but the beer was still cold and fun was had.  I am going to attempt to return to work today.  I am meeting some co-workers at the office to see if we can take files home and work without access to the server.  I don't even care if the office has power or not...I just want human interaction!
