This week I attended a fancy boring lawyer meeting. However, I did not know I was supposed to attend this event until about 5pm that day. And, of course, I had worn my brightest, most pattern mixiest outfit. Well, I showed up to a sea of black suits. I was not only the only person not wearing a suit, I was also the only person not wearing all black. I experienced a feeling that I have never felt. I felt underdressed. I was so uncomfortable. Then a man, who I think is a partner at a huge important firm, came up beside me and said, "Finally, someone is wearing a little bit of color to one of these things. Thank you. Everyone else looks so depressing." I guess I am the bright spotlight of boring lawyer events.
