Look What I Got: April and May Purchases
I may not have been blogging lately, but I certainly was shopping. I am at a stage in my wardrobe where I am beginning to have to replace staple pieces that are reaching the end of their life span (i.e. my wallet, wrap dress, shirt dress, sneakers, sweater, striped tee). But, I also added a few splurges thanks to Rent the Runway's sample sale and Bloomindale's recent sales.

Badgley Mischka Holiday Collection from Rent the Runway
I don't think it's a secret that I am a huge fan of Rent the Runway. I rent from them quite frequently. More times than this blog even indicates...because nighttime events do not lend themselves to good blog photos. And my old standby from RTR is anything from Badgley Mishka (see the evidence of my love affair here and here). Badgley Mishka dresses always fit me perfectly. The dresses always sit perfectly over all of my curves and have just the right amount of stretch to let me dance all night long at friends' weddings.
So, I was obviously pretty excited when Rent the Runway unveiled its Badgley Mischka Exclusive Holiday Capsule Collection. The small collection is full of sparkle and holiday glam. I love a good sequin dress, but my life does not call for too many sequin dresses. So Rent the Runway allows me to indulge my sparkle addiction without emptying my wallet and clogging my closet with one-hit wonders. My personal fav from this new collection is the Natasha Dress (pictured above). It's sparkly AND ombre! I love the deep neckline and the cute little sleeves. This dress is just begging to be worn to a holiday party!
Check out the collection and let me know what your fav is!

Vegas Outfit Planning with Rent the Runway
In a few weeks I am flying off to Las Vegas for a friend's bachelor party. I absolutely hate packing. I always over-pack and then I can't carry my own suitcase through the airport. So, this time I decided to utilize Rent the Runway! They'll deliver directly to the hotel we are staying at (I already called to find out all the address and shipping information that has to be sent to RTR) and there's a RTR store in Vegas, so I can exchange anything that doesn't fit! I am opting to go for 2 evening dresses and a daytime dress. That's a whole bunch of stuff I don't need to cram into my suit case!
Check out the looks I put together!

Savannah-Style Weddings with Rent the Runway
Nicole Miller Garden Bouquet Dress | Slate & Willow Accessories Lena Earrings | Franchi Gold Abigail Clutch
This dress is classic southern-ness. I just picture myself sipping a mint julep under an old willow tree in this dress. I love the sexy silhouette and the coy off the shoulder look. I picture this with a bold lip color.

Hamptons Wedding Style with Rent the Runway
Have you ever been invited to a Hamptons Wedding? I haven't. Nor do I anticipate being invited to one. But a girl can dream. And you can always dress for your dreams. Of course Rent The Runway can be there to dress your dreams, at a fraction of the retail price. Treat every wedding this summer like a celebrity-attended, fancy-schmancy wedding in the Hamptons. Think summery colors (brights and pastels) with luxe sparkly and shiny details. I don't necessarily think the attire for a Hamptons wedding needs to be super fancy. You will be on the beach and outdoors at one of these parties...I assume, based upon what I have seen on Revenge.
Mara Hoffman Peach Loom Jumpsuit | Kendra Scott Natalie Earcuff | RJ Graziano Bentley Bangles
This jumpsuit outfit exudes casual glam to me. This would be on the more casual side for a Hamptons gala. Maybe more suitable for a daytime soiree.
Kotur Rose Gold Margo Minaudiere
And here we're kicking up the fancy slightly with a bright floral maxi and gold details. I like the simplicity of the delicate Gorjana necklace paired with the big and bold maxi. I figured with a head to toe floral print, I could go a little easier on the accessories.
And of course...Get $25 off your first rental of $75+ with new code FIRSTRTR25X75X

Miami Beach Wedding Style with Rent the Runway
In my opinion, summer weddings are the most fun to dress for. Its because the normal rules don't apply,. You can break most of the traditional wedding attire rules in the summer. (except the one about wearing white. There's a chance you'll lose a limb). You can wear flat sandals (even flip flops), show a little mid-drift (but not too much), use sunglasses as an accessory, and go a little casual and flowy, I assume, never having been to one, that Miami Summer Weddings are just awesome fashion feasts of color and pattern (with some drinks and food of course). Rent The Runway can bring that tropical color and pattern to the table.
Milly Toile Print Halter Top
Milly Toile Print Skirt | Gorjana Accessories Chaplin Cuff |
Balenciaga Accessories Augustine Sunglasses
Balenciaga Accessories Augustine Sunglasses
See? Told you a little (not too much) mid-drift is appropriate! And even a bird print! And you'll (hopefully) need those sunglasses out on the patio while you sip your fruity cocktail.
AV Max Signature Bangle Set
Normally, I would say that a patterned caftan-style dress would be too casual for a wedding. But, this Mara Hoffman number is the perfect quirky piece for a summer wedding. As are pretty much all of the outrageous printed dresses from Mara Hoffman are perfect for a summer wedding...or just general summer awesome-ness.
And who does bright summer patterns better than Lilly Pulitzer? No one. Pretty much all Lilly dresses are appropriate for a laid-back summer soiree.
If any of theses styles have tempted you, I have a special discount code for ya! Get $25 off your first rental of $75+ with new code FIRSTRTR25X75X.

What to Wear to a Beach Wedding with Rent the Runway
One of the favorite places for New Jersey-ans to have a wedding is down the shore. However, a beach or dockside wedding is quite difficult for a guest. You have to be dressed up enough to dance the night away at the fancy dinner portion, but also be prepared for searing heat and itchy sand (or the annoying spaces between the planks of a boardwalk) during the ceremony. As always, I turn to Rent The Runway, If you don't already know, Rent the Runway offers high end clothing and accessories for rent at a fraction of the retail price!
And Rent the Runway has you covered for such an event with their Nantucket Summer Weddings collection. Since no one I know is wealthy enough to get married on Nantucket, I'm using the collection to shop for a regular old beach wedding.
Below are a few of my favorite options for a summer beach wedding. (Warning....I went a little crazy with the nautical them. I love stripes!!!)

What to Wear to a Vineyard Wedding with Rent the Runway
Wedding season is upon us! And since no one wants to look at the same dress over and over again in pictures, I have to turn to Rent The Runway to fuel the seemingly endless need for dresses this summer. If you don't already know, Rent the Runway offers high end clothing and accessories for rent at a fraction of the retail price!
One of the best places to have a summer wedding is a winery. And Rent the Runway has you covered for such an event with their Napa Valley Summer Weddings collection! Don't let the name fool you. You don't have to go to Napa for a winery wedding...we do have quite a few here in New Jersey!
Below are a few of my favorite options for a summer winery wedding.
I said florals were an obvious choice for a winery wedding. So, is a maxi dress. Why not do both! Because the print on this dress is bold, I kept the accessories simple and went with flat shoes again. No one is really going to see your feet in a maxi!
If any of theses styles have tempted you, I have a special discount code for ya! Get $25 off your first rental of $75+ with new code FIRSTRTR25X75X.

Erickson Beamon Periwinkle Duchess Earrings
Florals are always a good bet for an outdoor wedding. Mix them with metallics for a bit of an edgier look And don't forget, if you're wearing heels, make sure they're chunky so you don't sink into the grass!
kate spade new york accessories Place Your Bets Emanuelle Minaudiere | Ella Carter Jesse Bracelet
For the brave wedding guest, try a fancy jumpsuit! I know most ladies like to wear heels with their jumpsuits to elongate their legs. Get a higher waisted jumpsuit and you can get away with flats in my opinion. I thought this jump suit could be paired with bolder accessories. It's not an outfit for the faint of heart!

Winter Wedding Wear with Rent the Runway

I bet you were waiting anxiously through the holidays (and many days thereafter) for the big reveal of which dress I chose for a recent wedding. Ok, probably not. Sadly, I could not get my hands on the fan favorite from the poll because I ordered too late. I was, however, able to get this little shiny silver medal. This dress was the perfect amount of sparkle for a wedding during the holiday season. And by perfect amount, I mean A LOT. However, it managed to not be heavy. Which was a good thing, because I danced my ass right off!
