Northwest Blonde sure looks good in a  poncho.  This is a fall trend I have yet to try for fear of looking like the Oogie Boogie.  (Yep, I am keeping a Halloween theme here!)  I love that this outfit is neutral and all about the poncho as a statement piece.

And don't forget to check out this week's co-host The Color Palette!

My Fall-themed Bridal Shower

It's been almost a year since my bridal shower, so I figured I would get around to sharing it!  It was fall-themed, so it seems like I wasn't procrastinating and put this post off purposefully.
Fall themed bridal shower invites

I was pretty adamant that I wanted my shower to be a brunch and that mimosas would have to be served.  So, these Wedding Paper Divas invitations perfectly encapsulated my vision.  I am usually a beer gal, but I figured I wanted to class it up for this event.

Fall Themed Bridal Shower (1)

Stage House Tavern has always been a favorite hang out for me. It has a rustic feel and delicious food...and mimosas. Too bad there's two locations...and my sister printed the wrong address on the invitations.  The morning of the shower was super duper fun.  Thankfully, someone noticed and texted me that morning asking about it.

And did you think I wouldn't have worn a fabulous dress?!  I had purchased this Betsey Johnson dress (similar here) a few months before and patiently waited for the date to arrive.  It'll be featured on its own in a post soon.

 Fall Themed Bridal Shower (2)
My sister spent quite a bit of time with the hot glue gun. The leaf garland and banner sing is completely homemade.  She then meticulously hot glued the ribbons and burlap onto the mason jars. My mom will take credit for filling them with water and floating the candles in them.  I will take credit for purchasing the wood slices.  They were $15 a piece!  That seemed ridiculous to me.  So I went back over and over to Michael's with 40% single item coupons to purchase 12 of them.  My cheapness can be a bit excessive.
Fall Themed Bridal Shower (6)
Instead of a traditional wishing well, guests were asked to bring lottery tickets.  Because I am "lucky in love."  I won $265 off those puppies!  Best gift ever...cash.

We went a little off theme with the favors, but I love beer and everyone loves a good bottle opener.  I don't think there is a such thing as a champagne bottle opener...and champagne flutes were a little too expensive.

I was pretty jazzed to get a Kitchenaid mixer.  The Scot mocked me and said that I would never use it.  Just to spite him in the last year I have made a ton of cookies, breads, cakes, mashed potatoes, pasta sauce....wait a second.  That was his plan all along!

However, I was able to use one of my favor bottle openers on some of my presents.  My friends get me.

Znu Hooded Tunic (1)

I am firm believer that leggings are not pants, except when you are too tired to put on pants.  The arrival of colder weather makes me incredibly lazy.  So, thankfully, Znu sent me this sweatshirt tunic.  I can be a lazy schlub (is that how you spell that?) in my leggings and sweatshirt without looking like getting out of bed was an epic battle.

I love this outfit from The Block is Haute.  Spicing up a shift dress with statement pieces is one of my favorite fashion tricks.  Check out her shoes, her purse, AND her necklace.

And there is a new face helping us out with the link up this week!  Ashleigh of
Fashionably Ashleigh!  She'll be visiting a lot of your blogs, but make sure to stop by her blog to say hi!

Outdoor Wedding Dresses with CocoMelody

Dressfashion Prom Dresses London
I told you I was going to start innundating you with wedding information!  I am starting with what we didn't do.  Initially, I had envisioned an outdoor wedding in a field of wildflowers.  That plan was scratched almost immediately, because try finding a beautiful rural field of wildflowers any where near an affordable wedding venue for 200 people is near impossible (within reasonable budget constraints.  The Scot also dashed my dreams of getting married at the Bronx Zoo because he did not approve of the presence of sea lions and did not want to have the reception in a building called the "Elephant House."  However, that is a story for another day.

Picking out beach wedding dresses or dresses for any outdoor ceremony can pose some unique difficulties.  The elements (i.e. wind) and the earth (i.e. sand and dirt) are always issues.  Then you have the issue of the dress fitting with the theme of the wedding, while still maintaining your personal vision of how you want to look as a bride.  Sometimes it's hard to make all of these line up.

To make such a decision, you need to start perusing options.  Start online with a retailer like Cocomelody.
cwzk14006-26-a

Cocomelody has a huge selection of 2016 wedding dresses.  And, hey, if you decide to scrap all the plans and just elope, any of these dresses would fit in a carry on and make great destination wedding dresses.

Versatility and Tassels with Stella & Dot

Whenever I am about to drop more than I should on a dress, I justify by saying, "I can style it so many ways!"  I normally don't have that sort of mentality when it comes to jewelry.   That's not to say I don't often over-shop for baubles.  However, Stella & Dot's Versatility Shop has changed the game.  You often have those subtle pieces that make their way into most weekday outfits or those statement pieces that come out once or twice a year.  But, what if you have a necklace that could be both, and everything in between?
That's the Aida Tassel Necklace. The antique, brushed gold finish and the tassel are inspired by the Grand Bazaar (according to Stella & Dot).  Each "fan" and the tassel is removable.  So, you can go with a gold collar necklace or all the way to a long 3-fanned tassel necklace.  I love that the fans make the length versatile, so you can customize the necklace to go with the neckline of your top or dress.
