In the Caboodle: Primer Controversy

Eye Shadow Primers by veggielawyer 

I am about to say something controversial.  Get ready for it.  I don't like Urban Decay's Primer Potion.  It's not my primer of choice.  There is nothing I like about it.  I hate the applicator.  That weird brushy thing?  I just want to apply it with my finger.  I hate the bottle.  That metallic paint chips off and gets all over everything else in the Caboodle.  Most of all, I hate how liquid-y it is.  I hate how it feels on my eye lid and I feel like I have to let it dry before putting on my eye shadow.  I also have really vein-y eye lids, so I need something with a little more matte coverage.   I like the feel of a more paste-like primer.  My primer of choice has been Stila's Prime Pot for awhile now.  It's really thick and really sticks to your eye lid....and keeps your eye shadow in place all day (which is sort of its job).  However, I will admit, that it can feel heavy.  And if you put it on too thick it can be difficult to spread on your eye shadow.  When my Prime Pot emptied awhile ago, I decided to go out on a limb and try something new.  A Sephora sales associate recommended Laura Mercier Eye Canvas.  It's fantastic!  It has a lighter and more powdery consistency than the Prime Pot.  It's a little shimmery, so it also acts as a highlighter AND still covers my lid veins.  Oh yeah, and it keeps my eye shadow in place. I am wearing a posh'mina....not a pashmina...a poshmina.  It's much better, it has arm holes.  After winning it in a giveaway, wore this bad boy all weekend.  To work or casual Friday...when the Scot asked me if I was going to lead a llama up a mountain in it.  Out shopping with my mother...where I had to convince her that purple ballet flats are not crazy and she can wear floral.  Out for beers with the Scot...where the poshmina protected me from the night shill on the patio.  On the couch...as a blanket.

I did leave the Poshmina at home when I went shopping and eating with my bestie Elena on Sunday.  But, don't worry, it's coming to work with me today.

Look What I Got: Cheap Hearts

I would have posted yesterday's skirt as a great deal at $10, but Sharon beat me my getting the same skirt last week for a little under $6.  So, instead here's a heart print shirt that I paid under $20 for at the Gap.  I've been wearing this shirt constantly since buying it...with jeans, stretch pants and even a yellow pencil skirt.  And on that note, I will pay a good deal of money for a pencil skirt that does not wrinkle.  Since I do like to sit down during my work day...and sort of have to in order to drive to work, I can not avoid the wrinkles.  And there is only so much Downy Wrinkle Release can do. And now it's time for the link up!

Everything about this outfit and photo shoot just fell into place.  Just days after purchasing this skirt, I was inspired by Bonnie of Delusions of Grandeur to pair it with a striped blazer.  And then as I was strolling around this Sunday with the Scot we found a nice little garden behind a church.  It was like the garden had been placed there for our little photo shoot.  Good light and nice and secluded so that I didn't feel  so totally awkward taking photos in public.  The sign directing us into the garden didn't exactly say "Bloggers Come Take Photos Here."  It just said "Visitors Welcome." 

And I just realized that I wore stripes and floral last Wednesday...am I losing my edge?

April Group Giveaway

In case you didn't notice, the blog got a little face lift thanks to the fabulous Audrey at Kinch Life Designs!  I finally stopped admiring her work from afar and took the plunge to hire her to clean up my little space on the internet.  Although I loved my old design, I thought it was time for a cleaner design...but still with glitter and obviously more cats.
