Favorite Fashion Friday #64

 photo FavoriteFashionFridaylogo_zpsf66ade9e.jpg

Well, since I am still on vacation, I was unsure if I would get a chance to pick out a fav outfit for this week.  I'll pick 2 next week.  I promise!  So, instead, here's a picture of my cat.  He's pretty fashionable.

Look What I Got: Spray Tan Giveaway!

versaspa giveaway
Do you notice something different in my pictures?  Maybe my skin tone?  Maybe I am not so transparent?  I did the most Jersey thing I have ever done...I got a spray tan.  And I loved it. Now you can get one too!

If you've been around this blog, you can tell from my vampire-esque skin tone that I can not spend too much time in the sun.  Therefore, I also can not and do not tan.  Like any normal person I hate sunburn and skin cancer, so I wear a thick layer of SPF 9,000 and try to limit my time out in the sun during the summer months.  And I had never tried a spray tan because, well, I just don't like Snooki's look.  (Was that reference too dated?)  I also figured it would be sticky and weird.  For some reason I imagined spray tanning was like getting sprayed with a thin layer of grape jelly.  Welp, I was wrong.
bunnies and spray tan 4
I went in spray tanned in a Versa Spa.  And this thing is high tech.  (I really hope the prophecies of Terminator don't come true or computers don't become sentient.  Because this thing would mess some stuff up).  It was sooo super easy.  I showed up with a bathing suit under my clothes, stepped into the room, put on a shower cap, applied barrier cream to my hands and feet, and stepped into the spa.  Once you press the on button...the magic happens.  This thing talks you through the whole process.  You get sprayed on all four sides.  There are handy diagrams in the machine showing you how to stand.  And then you get blow dried.  Afterwards, just try not to sweat for a few hours and don't shower.  I was able to go about my normal day.  I wasn't sticky, I didn't smell, and I didn't even stain my car seat.

I did, however, make some rookie mistakes.  First, I did not apply enough barrier cream to my hands and feet.  the barrier cream prevent as much spray tan from getting on certain areas.  Because I am so light skinned, my hands and feet were a little speckly and then the spay tan settled in the wrinkles.  Second, I did not wipe off excess spay from my hands and feet.  Again, the spray just sat in my wrinkles.  Lastly, this dumb dumb left her bikini neck strap up, result in weird lines on my chest.

Will I go again?  Hell yes!  I felt great afterwards.  I thought it looked really natural.  The light setting was perfect for me.  I am planning on getting sprayed for an friend's upcoming wedding...and possibly for my own!

And now you can be the judge.  Sunless, Inc is giving the chance for one lucky reader to win a VersaSpa spray tan! (check the VersaSpa locations to find one near you).

In My Rocks Box Lately

Sign up for Rocks Box here and receive a free month of service!
August 14 Rocks Box
Carina Necklace: Loren Hope ($132) (purchase here): I considered this the holy grail of necklaces.  So, I kept it.  I know, this is a MUCH more expensive item then I normally purchase, but I did get the 20% off from Rocks Box, and I had some credits saved up.  However, I have been wearing the crap out of this necklace (here), and I've been selling a lot of clothes on Instagram.  So, I felt like I owed it to myself.

Lulu Pyramid Bracelet: Gorjana ($48) (purchase here):  I really loved this delicate bracelet.  It was perfect to wear with a stack or on it's own with a simple outfit that doesn't call for a plethora of bracelets (yes, those outfits exist for me).

Gum Drop Earrings: Urban Gem ($25): I loved this earrings.  Loved, loved, loved!  They were the perfect everyday studs....however, I already have a pair of everyday studs.  So, I pried this out of my hand and put them back in the box.

September 14 Rocks Box
Deco Pendent Necklace: Juliet & Co. ($60): I loved the style of this pendent.  It was right up my alley: sparkly and vintage-inspired.  The only problem was that the inner chain was too short and choked me when I put it on.  It also looked like a dog collar.  Pretty much that second chain ruined this necklace.  When will designers learn to keep it simple.

Alexander Multi-Gem Earrings: Urban Gem ($36): These were so gorgeous and, surprisingly light.  However, I had no wear to wear these (and an already huge pile of statement earrings that don't get out much).

Mae Shimmer Solitaire Ring Set: Gorjana ($38) (purchase here): I wore these rings everyday that I had them.  They were the perfect little pop and matched everything.  The went with casual jeans, work appropriate pencil skirts, and out to dinner dresses. And I learned that when you stop buying your jewelry at Forever 21, you stop getting green fingers.  Amazing.  However, I restrained from keeping them because I went crazy with last month's box and that necklace.

Where in the World is Penniless Socialite?

350px-Worldcast

Ladies and gentleman, I have left the country.  I have (hopefully) by now made my way to the land of Justin Bieber punches, Ibiza.  If not, I am sitting in an airport in Frankfort crying.  (Yes, we had to fly via Germany....it's a loooong story).

Anyways...have no fear, I have all of my posts scheduled for you this week...including the link ups!  I'll be back October 1st, but I'll be checking in every so often because we will actually have wireless internet.  Yes, we are so wealthy and fancy.  But, seriously, this is my first vacation ever where the hotel has wireless internet.

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram to keep up with my international adventures!

Look What I Got: $25 Altar'd State Giveaway!

Today, Look What I Got has a special co-host!  Kristi of The Dandelion Girl!  She's beautiful and sports some awesome vintage fashions...and she's offering an awesome giveaway to Penniless Socialite readers today!
dandelion girl 2

Hello! I'm K and I blog over at The Dandelion Girl... a blog that ebbs and flows just like life does. It showcases some of my loves and some of my ramblings. I work at Anthropologie (part-time, my real job is as a manager at another retail store), so I often show off our displays and how it has influenced my home decor. Though I used to model, I am no longer that weight and sometimes my looks are horribly hilarious. I like to keep it real, so whatever pops out from the self-timer sessions is what you see.

dandelion girl 1

I love Moscato (the wine and my dog), pumpkin, mixing masculine and feminine, historic homes, Dr. Seuss, F. Scott Fitzgerald quotes, and Economics. One of my biggest dislikes is having to pick a side at a wedding and when my random tastes confuse Spotify to the point it just quits working on Radio mode. Whoopsies!

Working as much as I do, life can be chaotic. But that's the way I like it. Bouncing from place to place, keeping a dream and hope in my heart, and light in my eyes.

Anyway, hope you'll stop on by or at least participate in the giveaway... a gift card to another of my loves - Altar'd State.

Life is slippery, let's hold hands!

altard state giveaway
So you want to know how to win this gift card?

The only required entry is to follow me on Bloglovin' and post on my blog stating that you did. I'm not a big Facebook fan (I know... I know...) and don't go on Twitter (except to play "What is Dance Mom Holly Wearing" every Tuesday night - the lady wears SO much Anthropologie and I love to spot the pieces - she thinks it's humorous as well, actually... so the former is not possible and the latter wouldn't be interesting to very many people. You can follow me on Pinterest for another entry option - you don't have to follow every board. I think Pinterest feeds should be a curation of what you like and are inspired by, so no matter if you follow one or them all, you will get an entry. The last entry possibility is to follow me on Threadflip. You'll get a $5 site credit if you do as well (if you use my link)

Stitch Fix #7: A Transitional Fix

Stitch Fix 7 1

This time, my fix was filled with pieces I was hopeful would help me transition into Fall.  However, I was a bit disappointed....
Stitch Fix 7 2
Jordie Abstract Floral Fit & Flare Dress: Mystree ($68).  I can't say enough negative things about this dress.  I had high hopes because I liked the cut and pattern in the picture.  However, this was a cheap piece of crap. The fabric was some sort of polyester blend.  it was super thin and felt like one of those cheap nightgowns you would get from KMart as a kid.  Maybe if this dress had My Little Ponies or New Kids on the Block on it I would have been more forgiving.
Stitch Fix 7 3
Brianna Double Clover Drop Earrings: Zad ($28).  These earrings looked cheap and dated.  They looked like something you'd see on that weird, sad jewelry rack at the register at a drug store...except they were 10 times the price.
Stitch Fix 7 4
Kendall Cross Front Tab Sleeve Blouse: Kut from the Kloth ($58).  Well, hello, why yes that is my bra.  Reason #1 I did not keep this top: I would've had to wear another shirt under it.  If I am paying $58 for a shirt, I expect it to function as a shirt without assistance.  Reason #2: Bat wings.  Enough said.

June Polka Dot Skirt: Pixley ($58).  I've been searching for a polka dot pencil skirt.  I liked this one, but I didn't $58 like it.  It was stretchy and not as structured as I like my pencil skirts.
Stitch Fix 7 5

Duke V-Neck Sleeveless Blouse: 41Hawthorn ($54).  This is actually the only item I kept from my Fix.  I love the color and the fabric is super soft and flowy.  I realized I needed some more basic separates in my wardrobe, and this top was the perfect addition!

Have you tried Stitch Fix?  Did you get a box this month?  Let me know what you got, loved, kept!  If you posted it about it on your blog, let me know in the comments!

Dressing Up Your Intel Tablet

Dressing up my Intel tablet 1

Obviously, I like to dress myself in a lot of bling and sparkle.  So, why would I want to treat my tablet any different?  However, all of the sexy tech accessories are made for iPads.  I have a 7 inch Android  Intel Tablet.  It's really really hard to find a pretty tablet case for a 7 inch tablet.

Dress up Your Tablet

I really had to search hard for these gems.  Vera Bradley makes a medium tablet cover.  And they are on sale for anywhere between $15 and $24!  Surprisingly, Asos also makes a really cute universal tablet cover.  Best Buy has OK options, but they're a little boring for my tastes.  Modcloth, the eternal purveyor of cute things, has a cute iPad air sleeve that I think fits a 7 inch tablet. And as a plus, it's by Herschel, which makes the best and coolest travel accessories.  I was desperate to get a Kate Spade tablet cover, but they only make iPad accessories.  However, lucky me, Kate Spade's iPad mini cases just about fit my tablet.  The charging port ( I don't know the proper term for it) is blocked by the cover though. I am willing to sacrifice this to get a cute striped tablet cover.  And, BONUS, Bloomingdale's has a few on clearance!  I got mine for about $35.  And my favorite, out of budget option, is the Ted Baker tablet clutch.  It's a purse, it's a tablet cover, it's $125...damn!
Dressing up my Intel tablet 2
See?  Pretty good fit, right?

Do you have any good recommendations for tech accessories?
