Free People Tunic

Free People Tunic (4) Free People Tunic (5) Free People Tunic (2) Free People Tunic (3)

I have to admit.  This maxi dress was an impulse purchase.  I saw it on the rack at Lord & Taylor during a big sale.  It was cheap and I liked the colors.  There wasn't a whole lot of thought that went into it.  When I got it home and I put it on, I thought I had just purchased a bathing suit cover up.  I didn't think it was a big deal, because my favorite tank top is actually a maternity top I accidentally purchased.  So, off I went into the world in a bathing suit cover up.

Turns out it is actually a maxi dress.  But the slits on the sides are so high that pants are a necessity.  So, I don't think it meets the basic definition of a dress.  It's more like an unnecessarily long tunic.  Super great story right?  I'll make sure to tell it at parties.

Printed Ted Baker and a Sarah Cardigan

Ted Baker Mixed Media Dress and LulaRoe Sarah Cardigan (4) Ted Baker Dress and Sarah Cardigan (3) Ted Baker Tribal Print Dress and LulaRoe Sarah Cardigan (1) Ted Baker Dress and Sarah Cardigan (2)

I know I've talked a lot about LulaRoe here on the blog over the past few weeks.  But, here I go again.  My newest favorite piece is the Sarah cardigan.  One of the things I love about LulaRoe is that you can mix the budget friendly pieces with more expensive pieces.  This Sarah cardigan paired with my $300 Ted Baker dress quite nicely.  Except, I got this dress off the clearance rack at Nordstrom Rack for $100.  So, this outfit is just all budget-friendly pieces.  Forget everything I have just typed.

Let's move on to the tights.  It's that time of year when I have to roll out my massive collection of tights and can finally throw away my razors.  Berkshire was nice enough to offer me tights to add to my collection.  Berkshire's collection is made to fit all shapes and sizes.  They also offer a wide range of control top tights, which are (dare I say it) comfier than the Spanx brand.  And I can attest that I wore these all day and didn't get any form of a wedgey.   Berkshire is offering my readers 15% of their order with code "blogger15."

P.S.  I know I have been on an extended blogger hiatus.  A vacation and then an inability to recover my work life after said vacation is to blame.  I will be back next week with a more regular schedule and the link up!

A Dress for All Seasons

Anthropologie Saraid Dress (1) Anthropologie Saraid Dress (2) Anthropologie Saraid Dress (3) Anthropologie Saraid Dress 4

Florals are always in season.  I love this dress  because it can go from winter, to fall, to spring, to summer. The colors are bright enough for spring and summer, but not so bright that they can't be muted with accessories for the fall and winter.  Here I dressed it for a mild summer day with booties.  But, I can easily throw on flip flops for a more humid day.  Or pair it with tights and knee-high boots for the winter.

I own quite a few pairs of shoes from Just Fab, but now I have started amassing a pile of clothing from Just Fab.  It's pretty dangerous.  It's not really dangerous for your budget, because most items are between $24 and $50, it's mostly dangerous for my closet space.

Mara Hoffman Midi Dress

Mara Hoffman Triad Dress (8) Mara Hoffman Triad Dress (7) Mara Hoffman Triad Dress (6) Mara Hoffman Triad Dress (3)

Last year my fantasy bestie Mindy Kaling turned me on to designer Mara Hoffman.  Mara Hoffman's designs are bright pattern parties that flatter every body type.  They've got shapes and cut outs in all the right places.  So far I've gotten my hands on two maxi dresses and a midi dress (off the clearance racks at ShopBop and Bloomingdale's).  And some of those maxi dresses have cut outs...scandalous.

Right now it's a little too cold to show any skin, so I opted for this midi dress.  The hemline is perfect because it shows just the right amount of my short little legs to prevent the stumpy effect that midi dresses have on me.

Look What I Got: Dots and Stripes

Dots, Stripes, anf Courtney Bib 4 Dots, stripes, and courtney bib 3 Dots, Stripes and Courtney Bib 5 Dots, Stripes and Courtney Bib 1 IMG_3000

I've had this outfit planned in my head for quite a long time.  The only problem is that I was missing the skirt.  You would think an A-line polka dot skirt would be easier to find.  But, I have legit tried on about 10 and actually purchased and returned 2 over he last year.  It was like a longer and more repetitive Three Bears tale.  I finally found one that was "just right" from CNDirect.

A Cold Beach Day

The Scot and I took advantage of the the unseasonably warm weather this weekend and journeyed down to Asbury Park.  I love the beach during colder weather.  It's so peaceful.  It was so relaxing to just stroll leisurely down the boardwalk (and take blog photos without people staring).
The temperature was just cool enough to require some jacket layering and cozy socks, but not too cold to require covering up my carefully planned outfit with a giant coat.
And speaking of cozy socks...I love these wool socks from Tabbi Socks.  They are super warm and soft. They're meant to be worn as thigh highs, but I love to slouch them down.
Sadly, the weather is stating to turn, so my cozy socks are going to have to be traded in for cozy stockings or cozy pants.

Versatility and Tassels with Stella & Dot

Whenever I am about to drop more than I should on a dress, I justify by saying, "I can style it so many ways!"  I normally don't have that sort of mentality when it comes to jewelry.   That's not to say I don't often over-shop for baubles.  However, Stella & Dot's Versatility Shop has changed the game.  You often have those subtle pieces that make their way into most weekday outfits or those statement pieces that come out once or twice a year.  But, what if you have a necklace that could be both, and everything in between?
That's the Aida Tassel Necklace. The antique, brushed gold finish and the tassel are inspired by the Grand Bazaar (according to Stella & Dot).  Each "fan" and the tassel is removable.  So, you can go with a gold collar necklace or all the way to a long 3-fanned tassel necklace.  I love that the fans make the length versatile, so you can customize the necklace to go with the neckline of your top or dress.
