Leopard LulaRoe (& giveaway!)

Dressfashion Prom Dresses London
Leopard Nicole 1 Leopard Nicole 2 Leopard Nicole 3 Leopard Nicole 4 Leopard Nicole 5

This week, in preparation for my online pop-up party on Thursday at 8pm, I am will sharing a few of my favorite looks with LulaRoe items.  If you are unfamiliar with the brand...get familiar.  They make super comfy dresses, tops, and leggings in fun patterns that are perfect for work, a night out, or just lounging around the house.  They are only sold through consultants and items are only a limited number of items are made in each pattern.  So, once an item is gone, it's gone for good.
If you're not familiar with Lula lingo, items in hard to find prints or items that you just really covet are known as your "unicorn."  Well, because I am my grandmother, my "unicorn" was a Nicole dress in leopard.  I searched high and low for this beauty.  I joined a bajillion online parties, signing on to Facebook at the exact right time to try and snag one of these.  I was unsuccessful.  I finally had to resort to purchasing one used on Poshmark.  I say "resort" to, but lately searching used items on Poshmark has been my first stop for hard to find fashion.
Anyways...the Nicole dress is super flattering.  It has the perfect sleeve and skirt length for work and is incredibly stretchy (adding a  huge comfort factor).  The skirt is full, but not too full, so it's flattering on all body types.  It's really the perfect dress!

"So what is that?" asked the Scot when I donned my newly acquire poncho from Dresslink.  When I explained to him what it was, he then had a follow up question: "Like a rain coat?"  Sometimes explaining fashion to my husband is difficult.  (almost as difficult as eating pizza in a poncho).

A Cold Beach Day

The Scot and I took advantage of the the unseasonably warm weather this weekend and journeyed down to Asbury Park.  I love the beach during colder weather.  It's so peaceful.  It was so relaxing to just stroll leisurely down the boardwalk (and take blog photos without people staring).
The temperature was just cool enough to require some jacket layering and cozy socks, but not too cold to require covering up my carefully planned outfit with a giant coat.
And speaking of cozy socks...I love these wool socks from Tabbi Socks.  They are super warm and soft. They're meant to be worn as thigh highs, but I love to slouch them down.
Sadly, the weather is stating to turn, so my cozy socks are going to have to be traded in for cozy stockings or cozy pants.

Leggings...tights for the girl who is such a giant mess that she can't stop ripping holes in actual tights.  Or...tights for the girl who likes cold ankles.  The second line was more sarcastic.  I really don't like the cold, but I am actually physically incapable of keeping tights for more than a few weeks.
I've been asking my mom for the same thing every Christmas for the last several years: Tights and wool socks.  Typically, I can wear a pair of tights a few times before so elegantly ripping a giant hole in them.  Sometimes they get caught on a sparkly bracelet and sometimes a hole just mysteriously appears.  So, I trust that my mother will help me restock each holiday season.  And the wool socks?  I just like cozy piggies at night.

So, it's been a whole week since I've blogged!  I have a really good excuse though....visit from my sister, bridal shower, Scot's birthday, brother's 21st birthday, 2 Thanksgivings, stomach virus.  I think that pretty much sums up my recent life.
At least I had the decency to come back into your lives with a super sweet chambray dress and a hat.  I figured I already own a denim shirt and I wear denim pants all the time...why not just go full throttle denim with a dress?  Well, I guess going "full throttle" and combining  the denim shirt and pants would be a denim jumpsuit.  But, I don't look good in jump suits.  And I feel like it would be super annoying to go to the bathroom.

Look at me being all trendy with my jogger pants AND blanket scarf.  I really love trends that are pretty much pajamas...with a blanket on the side.  These pants are the softest, comfiest pants in my wardrobe currently.  I'm ready for a night on the town in this outfit OR a night on the couch.  Well, I didn't do either.  I took these babies out to the bar to watch some football.
I was really hesitant to try the jogger pant trend.  I was really confused about how to style them so that they didn't just look like a pair of sweatpants.  Most bloggers throw on a pair of sky high heels to lengthen the leg, but I like to leave heels at the office and out of my weekend.  Plus, I didn't think heels were appropriate at a bar that primarily serves beer and fried things. I was also a little worried about the size of my backside and how short I am.  I was wrong.  With the right pants, I think this trend can look good on any body type.  I think it's all about styling and shape.  I loved how these had a tapered leg, a wide waistband, and a contrasting color/texture band on the front.  I think all of these things contributed to their awesomeness.

Sunday Funday at The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

It shouldn't be a surprise to my readers that I LOVE outlet shopping.  So, it also shouldn't be a surprise to you that I LOVE the recently renovated The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens.  I live pretty close to another outlet mall that just pales in comparison to the wonder that is The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens.  It is hands down the best New Jersey outlet mall.  By my estimation, they have the most super-duper, fabulous shopping in New Jersey.  And-this is important to me-plenty of parking!  (I seriously hate starting a shopping trip with a 20-minute hunt for a space.)  They have everything you could ever want:  Michael Kors, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Neiman Marcus Last Call, Century 21...and so much more.  (For a complete list of the stores, visit www.jerseygardens.com.
I wanted to start compiling my Fall wardrobe, so my first stop was Neiman Marcus Last Call.

I snagged this Romeo & Juliet Couture dress with faux leather details for just $24!  I don't think a better deal exists.  I also popped into Saks (the outlet, but just saying "Saks" makes me feel fancy).  The quest for a tulle skirt ended for me at this New Jersey outlet mall, but I am saving the big reveal of that baby for another post.
If you ever find yourself in the tri-state area, I recommend popping into The Outlet Collection | Jersey Gardens.  It's conveniently located right off the New Jersey Turnpike (Exit 13A)....right near the airport if you happen to have a long layover.  (Only a 10-minute shuttle!)
You can keep updated with the sales and events at the mall by following them via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube or Instagram.  You can also get the inside scoop on deals by creating a personal profile here.  And don't forget to sign up for a VIP savings pass!

Fall 2013 Trends....That I WON'T Be Trying

Fall 2013 Trends...I am not trying
 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

1. Crop Tops.  I don't want to look like an extra on Saved by the Bell.  And I don't want my belly to be cold this Fall.  (In fairness, I find the crop top paired with a high waisted pencil skirt a lot less offensive.  Check out this top and skirt combo from Target).

2. Faux Leather Leggings.  I am a bottom heavy lady and the world is just not ready for this jelly.  I have not yet found a pair of these leggings that flatter my bottom half.  And I also don't think that they're my style.  The Scot commented that I am just not the "warrior" type.  I don't know why he associates faux leather leggings with warriors, but that was his verdict.

3. Over the Knee Boots.  I can't stop envisioning Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman."  I just can't get over that association.  Also, I have yet to find a pair of these boots that fit over my calves and up over the knee.  So, maybe my association is my way of protecting myself from the disappointment from not being able to join in on this trend.

4. Overalls.  I don't know if overalls are actually back, or if Forever 21 is just making me think they are.  When I recently walked into a Forever 21, I counted 5 difference types of short overalls ranging from faux leather to floral to polka dots.  As a kid I had a sweat pair of tie dyed overalls and as a teen I had an even sweeter olive corduroy pair.  I also had braces, zits and frizzy hair back then.  Some times are just not meant to be relived.

5. Knit Beanies.  Again, as a teen I wore these to cover up the fact that I had not showered that particular day.  It was cool to not care how you looked.  However, I now no longer have a use for knit beanies...as I shower everyday proudly.

6. Slouchy Harem Pants.  I just don't understand these pants.  Whose body do these flatter?  They give you wider hips and a floppy belly area.  Simply put...I just don't like them.

Are there any Fall fashion trends that make you cringe?

Also, don't forget to enter the giveaway to win a statement necklace and $10 Target gift card!

Loving Lately: Old Navy

I don't know what changes Old Navy made in their design team recently, but they are working. I always thought Old Navy's stuff looked a little cheap and was never on trend. However, over the last year or so, Old Navy has been spot on with trends often having similar items featured at more expensive retailers. Does Old Navy have a spy at J. Crew? Or maybe J. Crew is spying on Old Navy. Anywho, the Fall collection is no different. I love the printed tops, the bright colored bottoms, and the DENIM JACKET.  I've been craving a denim jacket for the Fall, so I designed three outfits centered around half of a Canadian tuxedo.
