Slip on sneakers appear to be everywhere for late summer and early fall fashion. I originally fell in love with the Kate Spade Slater slip-ons. C'mon they have rhinestones! However, they have been sold out most places and even on clearance in colors I am not in love with they are still $150! And then I fell in love with Boden's glitter slip-ons...but still not for $72. They are sneakers after all. But, of course, Target came to the rescue with a selection of slip-ons for just $19. I have already purchased the rhinestone ones and am thinking about going back for the glitter ones!

So, it's been a whole week since I've blogged! I have a really good excuse though....visit from my sister, bridal shower, Scot's birthday, brother's 21st birthday, 2 Thanksgivings, stomach virus. I think that pretty much sums up my recent life.
At least I had the decency to come back into your lives with a super sweet chambray dress and a hat. I figured I already own a denim shirt and I wear denim pants all the time...why not just go full throttle denim with a dress? Well, I guess going "full throttle" and combining the denim shirt and pants would be a denim jumpsuit. But, I don't look good in jump suits. And I feel like it would be super annoying to go to the bathroom.

What will I miss most about summer? The BBQs? I'm vegetarian. So, no. Beach days? You can see how pale I am. So, also, no. I will miss the ability to wear a dog print skirt and sandals to the office. The summer office is nice and casual...because no one is there. And the people that are there do not care at all what you are wearing. They're thinking about BBQs and beach days. So, I will go back to dressing like a professional adult Monday through Friday.
I wore this outfit so much that I started to worry that the staff and other patrons at our favorite restaurants around town noticed. Then, I realized that the bigger problem was that we might go to the same restaurants too much. We've become those old people that have a Friday night place, a Saturday night place and a Sunday lunch place. So, we threw caution to the wind and went to our Friday place on a Saturday and ordered pizza in on Friday. We are wild and crazy.
I haven't lost my mind. I meant to right HARE pins. And yes, I know the difference between hair and hare.

These are just cleverly named and adorable hair pins that look like stylized little bunny ears! I received these exclusive hare pins from The Young Designers Collective. I've talked about The Young Designers Collective before here. But they're so awesome I have to talk about them again. They're a group of artists and designers based in NYC that team up to design for non-profit organizations and through their collective power they have the ability to gain some recognition for their art without starving. The designer of the Hare Pins, Harmony Pilobello, makes unique, sustainable bridal accessories from recycled materials. ( I see some wedding accessory shopping in my future....) Harmony also makes custom textiles for a variety of retailers and is an experienced weaver. Harmony is combing love and knowledge of fabrics and sustainability and her upcoming collections will feature fair trade fabrics and fabrics from waste and dead stock. Her website will be relaunching this year, so make sure to check it out!
Disclaimer: I was provided these Hare Pins free of charge, but all opinions are 100% mine.
I have a deep dark secret. I don't put my seasonal clothes away. All of my clothes remain in my closet all year round. The reason for this is mostly because I just like marveling at my entire wardrobe in all it's glory. So, occasionally I am inspired to take a spring or summer frock out for a spin in the colder months. The most obvious way (for me, at least) to winterize a dress is to pair it with a cardigan and tights. However, I sometimes get tired of my "just add cardi" winter slogan. This time I went really crazy and put a shirt under my dress. I know...revolutionary. You can see how I wore this dress previously here.

And oh wait...I also wore some faux leather. I'm just a fashion glutton. I've also been a food glutton the past few days weeks. My absence from the blog world is due to my attendance at 4 (wait, 5?) Christmas celebrations. I have a big family...and we like to celebrate stuff. So, I've been eating my weight daily in mashed potatoes and cookies. As of January 2nd, I am going to quit that behavior. I only have a few more days of absurd gluttony. I must bask in it.

Our going on 6 month ordeal of purchasing a home is about to end...with a house. So, I've finally let myself start making wishlists and picking paint colors. Target's home items are dominating my wishlist....and that's exactly what this is....a wishlist. I don't actually need a beer stein with a deer head on it, but I think it would be nifty. The Scot is also already telling me my obsession with that bar cart is silly because we don't have a need for it. We do actually need lamps though.
And if you have a Target wishlist of your own, Kemi of Beauty Style Growth is here to help you out with a giveaway! (with a little Avon bonus!)
Hello...I'm happy to work with the Penniless Socialite again. I blog over at Beauty Style Growth and write about how I style my apple body type and also feature Avon Products, which I sell. One of my favorite stores to shop is Target. They have unique items of clothing that are well made and reasonably priced. The sales make shopping there even more justifiable. Who doesn't love Target? Here's your chance to win a $40 Target Gift Card and $20 Credit to my Avon Store.
I don't know how I never wore this vest and this gingham shirt together before. These two pieces have been right next to each other....hanging out....not telling me how good they look together. I feel like I have lost precious time with this pairing. I promise to make up for it though.
