When a Sweater and a Blanket Scarf Aren't Enough...

New Chic Tunic and Blanket Scarf-1-2 New Chic Tunic and Blanket Scarf-1-5 New Chic Tunic and Blanket Scarf-1 New Chic Tunic and Blanket Scarf-1-6

We all make mistakes.  Sometimes those mistakes are not wearing real pants when the average temperature is "arctic tundra."  I figured, I have a giant scarf, hat, AND a sweater on.  I'll totally be warm enough for blog pictures.  Nope.  Stupid.  Wrong.  My butt also can also feel the cold air.

Cold Hearted Valentine

Eshakti Valentine Heart Dress (4) Eshakti Valentine Heart Dress (3) Eshakti Valentine Heart Dress (2) Eshakti Valentine Heart Dress (1)

So, if you are thinking that perhaps it was too cold to be outside in New Jersey this weekend without a coat on...you would be correct.  The small number of pictures in this post s due to the fact that it was 17 degrees.  I did not attempt to get in good light or even stand still long enough so that hte photos wouldn't be blurry.  People were throwing around phrases like "polar vortex," which I think indicates that you should only leave the house in a snow suit.

However, I am a devoted blogger and I bought this heart print dress special for my annual Anna Howard Shaw Day celebration with my college friends.  It's an intricate celebration that requires the drinking of mimosas, eating of various cheese covered foods, and cackling at a high volume.

Nothing ruins my day like ill-fitting undergarments.  Have you ever put on a new bra only to realize it's a torture device? You just can't come back from that.  You just have to go home, change, and start your day over.
So, when I was headed out for a casual brunch with friends (i.e. an all day mimosa and food fest), I grabbed right for one of my Hanes Ultimate Bras.  I didn't need a pokey underwire interrupting my fun.  These bras are super soft and comfy.  And I can't believe the support the Comfortflex Fit Wirefree bra provides!
My casual dress for the day was a little thin and so I knew I needed some good coverage (especially in these temperatures!).  Even though the Ultimate Bras are really thin and flexible, they still provide full coverage.
If you scroll down you can enter to win TWO Hanes Ultimate Bras, so that you can bask in some Sunday brunch-y comfort like me!

Mara Hoffman Midi Dress

Mara Hoffman Triad Dress (8) Mara Hoffman Triad Dress (7) Mara Hoffman Triad Dress (6) Mara Hoffman Triad Dress (3)

Last year my fantasy bestie Mindy Kaling turned me on to designer Mara Hoffman.  Mara Hoffman's designs are bright pattern parties that flatter every body type.  They've got shapes and cut outs in all the right places.  So far I've gotten my hands on two maxi dresses and a midi dress (off the clearance racks at ShopBop and Bloomingdale's).  And some of those maxi dresses have cut outs...scandalous.

Right now it's a little too cold to show any skin, so I opted for this midi dress.  The hemline is perfect because it shows just the right amount of my short little legs to prevent the stumpy effect that midi dresses have on me.

Friday Uniform

Fridays typically turn me into a bratty 14 year-old.  I look in my closet and think, "I just can't even...put on pants."  So, my Friday uniform has consisted mainly of leggings and a comfy top.  I love love love Assets leggings from Target.  And this comfy cozy pink cardi from Yoyomelody completes my exasperated look. I think my Friday outfit choices are beginning to make my co-workers wonder if I own real pants.

Hare Clips and Plaid

I haven't lost my mind.  I meant to right HARE pins.  And yes, I know the difference between hair and hare.

These are just cleverly named and adorable hair pins that look like stylized little bunny ears!  I received these exclusive hare pins from The Young Designers Collective.  I've talked about The Young Designers Collective before here.  But they're so awesome I have to talk about them again.  They're a group of artists and designers based in NYC that team up to design for non-profit organizations and through their collective power they have the ability to gain some recognition for their art without starving.  The designer of the Hare Pins, Harmony Pilobello, makes unique, sustainable bridal accessories from recycled materials. ( I see some wedding accessory shopping in my future....)  Harmony also makes custom textiles for a variety of retailers and is an experienced weaver.  Harmony is combing love and knowledge of fabrics and sustainability and her upcoming collections will feature fair trade fabrics and fabrics from waste and dead stock.  Her website will be relaunching this year, so make sure to check it out!

I have quite a bit of silver jewelry, but I never wear it.  I have piles of silver bracelets, but was never inspired to create a neat little silver arm stack.  Well, uninspired until I received this Infinity Bracelet from Blue Nile.  It was the missing puzzle piece in my silver stack!  And now you have a chance to start your own silver stack and win an Infinity Bracelet from Blue Nile!

UPDATE: This very morning as I put this bracelet on, I excitedly thought, "I bet Emily Thorne would totally wear this while plotting her latest revenge scheme.  Also, I feel like there are too many simultaneous revenge plots on the show and we have lost it's true message."  I know....deep thoughts to start a Wednesday.

But, even if you don't win, you can use the code "bnhh" to get 10% off anything from Blue Nile.  You can choose from their huge selection of certified diamond and gem stone jewelry.

Full Disclosure: The bracelet I am wearing and the giveaway item were provided to me free of charge, but all opinions are 100% mine.  I was not compensated in any other way for this post.

I whisked the Scot off for a short little mid-week holiday the week before Thanksgiving.  (I had a conference to attend in Atlantic City...but I am still calling it a holiday).  There's nothing like breaking up the week with a vacation.  Since my job paid for everything, we decided to treat ourselves and take a cab to dinner.  Did you know it costs $15 to take a cab to the other end of the one mile long boardwalk in Atlantic City?  Now you do...and so do I.  Once I was done hyperventilating about the cost of our cab ride, I just accepted that the Scot deserves the fancy things in life.  He was really disappointed when we were unable to upgrade to a room with a whirl pool tub.  I, on the other hand, am perfectly happy with a $14 skirt from TJ Maxx.  See how I brought this all back around to fashion?
And now for a giveaway with absolutely no segway...because this is a busy week and I do not have time for segways.

I'm thrilled to be teaming up with four amazing bloggers to bring you a Bauble Bar giveaway for the holidays. Whether for yourself, a friend or a white elephant giveaway, these statement necklaces are sure to brighten up anyone's holiday season.

There will be TWO winners, one for each necklace and randomly selected via rafflecoptor. Pretty easy right? You'll have all week to participate, the winners will be randomly selected at midnight on December 6th and announced on December 9th on Preppy Panache and contacted via email. If you're contacted you'll have 24 hours to claim or prize or another will be selected. We want to make sure that the winner receives it in time for most of the holiday festivities. Good luck everyone! And now for the roll call of bloggers teaming up to bring you the bling:
