Gamiss Cat Purse (& link up!)

Striped Tunic and Cat Purse (5) Striped Tunic and Cat Purse (2) Striped Tunic and Cat Purse (3) Striped Tunic and Cat Purse (4)

Sometimes you just have to let your crazy cat lady flag fly.  I don't like to lie to people.  And you can lie by omission.  I figured that carrying this cat purse from Gamiss, I was putting everyone on sufficient notice that I am a crazy cat lady.
I love this little purse and all it's little details.  It's a great cross body, but also has the shorter strap for what I like to call a more adorable carrying position.  And...even the closure is shaped like a cat!

What to Buy at Labor Day Sales (& a link up!)

What to Buy at Labor Day Sales 2016

I have a little secret.  I buy most of my Fall clothing at end of summer sales.  I very rarely buy clothes in season (i.e. pay full price like a sucker).  Many of the Labor Day sales include items that came out as part of this new invented season of pre-Fall and items that just transition nicely into Fall and Winter.  So, here's a list of items that I intend to snag cheap this weekend!

1. Cardigans.  Somehow sweaters always make it into summer collections.  Maybe it's the proliferation of male-controlled office air conditioners that has led to the cardigan becoming a summer style staple?  I'll be snagging a few of these $20 cardigans at J. Crew Factory this weekend.
2. Denim.  Jeans have no season.  Get them while they're cheap.  These Madewell jeans are almost 50% off!
3. Pencil Skirts.  Pencil skirts are timeless and season-less.  I think I might add a green one to my collection.
4. Boho-Style Items.  Boho-style was everywhere this summer.  However, I've always thought the boho look wa sa little more conducive to Fall.  I think it's the color scheme.  Free People dresses are especially great for Fall if you just add some leggings and booties.
5. Work Dresses.   I tend to stock up on work dresses, which tend to be in the suiting section of the store, at the end of the summer.  A black dress is a black dress no matter what time of year you purchase it!
6. Neutral Shoes.  A pair of black pumps always makes it's way into a Labor Day sale.  Take advantage.

Anthropologie Flared Caraz Dress (3) IMG_3578

Nothing ruins my day like ill-fitting undergarments.  Have you ever put on a new bra only to realize it's a torture device? You just can't come back from that.  You just have to go home, change, and start your day over.
So, when I was headed out for a casual brunch with friends (i.e. an all day mimosa and food fest), I grabbed right for one of my Hanes Ultimate Bras.  I didn't need a pokey underwire interrupting my fun.  These bras are super soft and comfy.  And I can't believe the support the Comfortflex Fit Wirefree bra provides!
My casual dress for the day was a little thin and so I knew I needed some good coverage (especially in these temperatures!).  Even though the Ultimate Bras are really thin and flexible, they still provide full coverage.
If you scroll down you can enter to win TWO Hanes Ultimate Bras, so that you can bask in some Sunday brunch-y comfort like me!

Summer Professional Wear (and $50 Shop Bop Giveaway!)

Summer Profession Wear

It's sunny, it's hot...but some of us still have to go to work.  I find dressing for the office and the intense summer heat and humidity to be a little difficult.  There have been years and have just given up and decided that I'll just be sweaty and frizzy for 3 months and wear whatever lightweight linen sack of a dress I can find.  But, now I am a fashion blogger (and a grown up person with a job I actually care about); so I have to step up my game and look like a human being for the next 3 months.  There are a few essentials that are a part of my summer wardrobe.

Cotton Pencil Skirt (pictured).  I often find that a pencil skirt that's not wool doesn't have a lot of structure and ends up looking wrinkly and saggy.  However, J. Crew Factory's cotton pencil skirts are lightweight and breathable, but also have a good amount of structure.  (I need the structure, as I never get my body "bikini-ready."  It's "sitting on the couch in air conditioning-ready").  And on the plus side, they come in a billion colors.

Collar Blouses (options, pictured).  A tank or short sleeve blouse is a good choice fro the summer....because you can air out the pits when needed.  However, you have to class it up for the office with a collar.

Light Cardigan (pictured).  Some offices (not pointing any fingers) keep the air conditioning at a steady Arctic temperature.  So, you do have to dress in layers for the summer.  A light cardigan like this one from J. Crew Factory.  And like the pencil skirts, they come in a billion colors.

Shoes With Wedges (options) or Tan Peep Toe Pumps (options, pictured).  I can't make up my mind about the perfect summer office shoe.  I love a good wedge.  They're comfortable and dressy, but business-casual enough for the summer.  And you can never go wrong with a tan peep toe.  I think the compromise is that the tan peep toe is Monday through Thursday's shoe and the wedge is a Friday shoes.  I used to have a very strong stance on the presence of toes in the workplace.  However, I think a little peep toe is acceptable during the summer.  And all bets are off for Friday...as long as you don't wear flip flops.  God help you if I see a flip flop in an office setting.

Brightly Colored Statement Necklace (pictured).  I feel like this doesn't need an explanation.  Statement necklaces are awesome....and the summer is all about bright colors.

Bright Tote (pictured).  Summer Fridays are a great time to make it to happy hour.  But, you'll need a giant stylish bag to carry your makeup, hair stuff, and a change of flat shoes.

And Shop Bop has again graciously volunteered to help one of my readers shop for summer essentials!  Enter below for a chance to win a $50 Shop Bop gift card!

Look What I Got: May Purchases

May 2015 Purchases

May 2015 Purchases by veggielawyer
The recent Kate Spade Surprise Sale, Lilly Pulitzer GWP sale, Lilly for Target release, and just general weakness ruined my budget this month.  Technically, Lilly for Target was released in April, but I waited a bit to snag up some pieces on Poshmark and eBay after prices settled down a bit.  I even traded clothing I had for sale for a scarf!  Well, in any event, I have to get rid of a few more things in my closet to make room for the new invitees to my dress party.  I definitely went on a bit of a bender this month....but in my defense it was my birthday month!
