I whisked the Scot off for a short little mid-week holiday the week before Thanksgiving.  (I had a conference to attend in Atlantic City...but I am still calling it a holiday).  There's nothing like breaking up the week with a vacation.  Since my job paid for everything, we decided to treat ourselves and take a cab to dinner.  Did you know it costs $15 to take a cab to the other end of the one mile long boardwalk in Atlantic City?  Now you do...and so do I.  Once I was done hyperventilating about the cost of our cab ride, I just accepted that the Scot deserves the fancy things in life.  He was really disappointed when we were unable to upgrade to a room with a whirl pool tub.  I, on the other hand, am perfectly happy with a $14 skirt from TJ Maxx.  See how I brought this all back around to fashion?
And now for a giveaway with absolutely no segway...because this is a busy week and I do not have time for segways.

I'm thrilled to be teaming up with four amazing bloggers to bring you a Bauble Bar giveaway for the holidays. Whether for yourself, a friend or a white elephant giveaway, these statement necklaces are sure to brighten up anyone's holiday season.

There will be TWO winners, one for each necklace and randomly selected via rafflecoptor. Pretty easy right? You'll have all week to participate, the winners will be randomly selected at midnight on December 6th and announced on December 9th on Preppy Panache and contacted via email. If you're contacted you'll have 24 hours to claim or prize or another will be selected. We want to make sure that the winner receives it in time for most of the holiday festivities. Good luck everyone! And now for the roll call of bloggers teaming up to bring you the bling:

Look What I Got: Everyday Costume Party

Dress: Thrifted | Tights: Hue | Shoes: Marshall's (worn here, similar here) |
Necklace: J. Crew Factory (similar here) | Belt: Marshall's (worn here, similar here) |
Bracelets: Forever 21, Guess (worn here & here, similar here, here & here)

I like to call this my 1970's mom dress.  Don't get me wrong, the lady who donated this to the Goodwill was obviously a hot mom back in the day (and maybe still is, I don't know), but this dress was meant to be worn by Kitty That 70's show...or maybe Mrs. Brady.  Oh well, I love this dress and it was $6.  Everyday is a costume party in my life.

Weekend Update: Nemo Bust

Lenore Scarf: Kiki La Rue | Shirt: Marshall's (worn here, similar here) | Jeans: Old Navy |
Booties: Target (worn here, similar here) | Ring: vintage | Watch: Michael Kors (worn here) |
Bracelets: Bauble Bar & Forever 21 (worn here & here, similar here & here)

So, central New Jersey was spared the worst of Winter Storm Nemo.  I didn't get snowed in, but I did get a half day of work on Friday.  But don't worry, all the beer and nachos I stocked up on did not go to waste.
Since the snow didn't even reach my knees, I had no excuse to stay holed up in the apartment all weekend.  I could tell you what we did this weekend, but instead I am going to tell you what we did NOT do this weekend.  Heart Shaped Pizza.  Yeah, that's right.  One of my favorite pizza places was offering a heart shaped pizza for Valentine's Weekend.  And it came with a complimentary box of chocolates.  The Scot would not let me get it.  I am still mad about it.

Weekend Update: Thriftin' Around Town

(A planner, Gap gift card, ad space and more!)
Dress: Simply Be via Gwynnie Bee | Tights: Anthropologie (worn here, similar here) |
Boots: Macy's (worn here, similar here) | Hat: Ebay (worn here, similar here) |
Bracelets: Groopdealz, F21 & Julep (worn here and here, similar here, here, here and here) |
Ring: vintage | Earrings: Bauble Bar

This weekend I decided I wanted to do a little thrift store shopping...And this is the exact conversation that commenced between Elena and me.

In full disclosure, the outfit pictured is not what I wore because I did not do a photo shoot of my unwashed  appearance.  However, I did wear that hat.  Even though I didn't have enough energy to shower, I had more than enough to score some great finds.

I'm only giving a sneak peek at the clothing items because they will be making an appearance on the blog soon.
Vintage dress: $8, Striped Forever 21 shirt: $3.50, Patterned top: $3.50

Brigadoon print: $35.  I normally don't like to pay more than $10 for an item at Goodwill, but I could not turn down this print.  The Scot and I attended a wedding at the Brigadoon last year, so it has some meaning to me.  I am sure I overpaid, but I considered it a donation to Goodwill...haha.

Presidential pitcher: $3.99.  Seriously, how could I turn this down?  (I also did a little grocery shopping, as is evidenced by the stack of cans behind the glorious pitcher).

Vintage ring: $16.  Although I do love the Presidential pitcher.  This vintage ring might be my favorite find of the day.

And then of course I tortured the dog a little bit:

Don't even try and tell me you don't put your shower cap on our dog.

Full disclosure: I did not receive any thing from Gwynnie Bee in exchange for this post.  I found the service on my own and decided to sign up and share it with you guys.  I do get one free month of Gwynnie Bee for every lady that signs up for a paid month of Gwynnie Bee here.

Oh yeah, and I have a second giveaway going on.  Enter my giveaway to win a custom love coupon book.

Stuff I Wore: Prep it Up

When I saw this outfit in a recent J. Crew catalog, I knew I had to have it.
So, after shopping my own closet, thrifting and searching discount stores, I came up with this version
Cardigan // Liz Claiborne, worn here, similar here
Tee // Gap
Blue Pencil Skirt // Thrifted, similar here
Necklace // J. Crew Factory, worn here
Topsiders // Rocket Dog, similar here
And my high school flannel-wearing self is puking over the sheer preppiness of this outfit.  If you had asked that Nirvana-loving teen if she'd someday wear boat shoes proudly, she would have laughed your face.  Well, maybe not laughed in your face because she was waaaay too cool to even be affected by your opinions.  She would have snorted apathetically.
And if you want to adorn yourself in preppy goodies, head on over to Target.
