I have quite a bit of silver jewelry, but I never wear it.  I have piles of silver bracelets, but was never inspired to create a neat little silver arm stack.  Well, uninspired until I received this Infinity Bracelet from Blue Nile.  It was the missing puzzle piece in my silver stack!  And now you have a chance to start your own silver stack and win an Infinity Bracelet from Blue Nile!

UPDATE: This very morning as I put this bracelet on, I excitedly thought, "I bet Emily Thorne would totally wear this while plotting her latest revenge scheme.  Also, I feel like there are too many simultaneous revenge plots on the show and we have lost it's true message."  I know....deep thoughts to start a Wednesday.

But, even if you don't win, you can use the code "bnhh" to get 10% off anything from Blue Nile.  You can choose from their huge selection of certified diamond and gem stone jewelry.

Full Disclosure: The bracelet I am wearing and the giveaway item were provided to me free of charge, but all opinions are 100% mine.  I was not compensated in any other way for this post.

Friday's Fancies: For the Shorties

It's as if {AV} over at Long Distance Loving has delved into my psyche forcing me to face my worst fears.  Last week it was wearing white and now this week it's shorts.  As a pear shaped lady, there is nothing that evokes a sense of terror more than ill fitting shorts.  Want an instant thunder thigh and a wedgey on the side?  Put on a pair of tight shorts.  However, I conquered my fear and picked up a pair at Anthro on Memorial Day weekend.

I think the secret to the success of these shorts is that the leg holes are wide enough for my trunks.  And the color is dark enough that you can't see the pockets through the fabric.  I HATE that.

I hope you like these bad boys, because you'll be seeing a lot of them this summer.  They might even get a few friends.

Stuff I Wore: Spring Fever

Look at me, don't I just look like a beautiful spring flower?  Little do you know that I'm just a raging ball of snot at this point.  I;m having that kind of congestion where you get out of breath eating.  No?  You've never had that?  Me either.  I am totally NOT gross.
Yellow Tee // J. Crew
Purple Pleated Skirt // The Limited (worn here, similar here)
Halation Necklace // Anthropologie (worn here, similar here)
Gold Belt // J. Crew (similar here)
Bracelet // Candie's for Kohl's (similar here)
Ring // Bar II // Macy's (similar here)
Shoes // ?? (worn here, similar here)

I was really inspired by Atlantic Pacific's outfit combining purple and yellow.

And this is where I realized there was cat puke on my skirt.

As you can probably see, I was hard at work this weekend redesigning the blog.  I hope you like it!

Stuff I Wore: Prep it Up

When I saw this outfit in a recent J. Crew catalog, I knew I had to have it.
So, after shopping my own closet, thrifting and searching discount stores, I came up with this version
Cardigan // Liz Claiborne, worn here, similar here
Tee // Gap
Blue Pencil Skirt // Thrifted, similar here
Necklace // J. Crew Factory, worn here
Topsiders // Rocket Dog, similar here
And my high school flannel-wearing self is puking over the sheer preppiness of this outfit.  If you had asked that Nirvana-loving teen if she'd someday wear boat shoes proudly, she would have laughed your face.  Well, maybe not laughed in your face because she was waaaay too cool to even be affected by your opinions.  She would have snorted apathetically.
And if you want to adorn yourself in preppy goodies, head on over to Target.

Stuff I Wore: Learning my Photo Face

Polyvore Set
Bailong Pullover // Anthropologie, worn here, similar here
No. 2 Pencil Skirt // J. Crew, worn here, similar here
Tights // Hue
Heeled Oxfords // Bass, worn here, similar here
Crystal Brulee Bracelet // J. Crew, similar here
If this blog has taught me anything, it's what I need to do for my photo face.  If I don't smile enough I look cranky (Exhibit A above), when I smile too much....hello double chin.  I am possibly the least photogenic person ever.  Seriously, a camera comes out and my body and face morph into a horrible monster.  I always thought if I could weigh 85 lbs I'd be the best contestant ever on Top Model.  How hard could it possibly be?!?!  Stand there and look pretty and skinny and let Photoshop do the rest! It's so much harder than that, but I am starting to learn how to manipulate my face to make myself look human in photographs.

Stuff I Wore: Lemon Scented Wounds

Leopard skirt // Macy's, similar here
Cardigan // Ann Taylor, similar here
Top // Old Navy, similar here
Tory Burch Reva Ballet Flats

So, the other night I was cutting a slice of lemon to put in my water.  I know, I am really fancy.  And, I cut my finger.  As I began to bleed two thoughts popped into my head: 1. Oh my god!  I hope I didn't bleed on a perfectly good lemon! and 2. Damnit! I wanted to paint my nails tonight!  I clearly have my priorities straight.
So my non-DSLR camera really can't do blurry background shots unless it's in macro mode, so I tried to fake being able to take great photos with some photo editing.  What do you think?

Stuff I Wore: An Uncontrollable Mess

The title of this post references the mess that is my apartment, but also the mess that my hair stylist was the last time I got a hair cut.
As you can see from this picture, my apartment is a mess.  At the time this photo was taken a few weeks ago, work was crazy (still is) and laziness was setting in outside of the office.  As you can also see from the boxes in the background, I also went on a little online shopping binge.  The Scot was pretty busy with work and school, so spending 15 minutes in the morning taking my picture was not high on his of priorities (I know, his priorities are not straight...haha).  This picture was a result of a snap and run.

And now on to my hair stylist.  She is adorable and bubbly and awesome and I always envy her style.  Last time I saw my stylist, she was wearing that Target dress.  She looked so cute and I knew I wanted that dress.  However, when she bent over in that dress, I could see her entire booty!  A mess!   So, I purchased the dress in one of my Target hauls, but I sized up in the dress to get a little length and paired it with tights.  In the summer I may even just put some spandex shorts on underneath just in case.

In honor of this Target dress I'm linking up with Fabulous But Evil for Target Tuesday and sharing a few other Target dresses.

I love the pattern mixing in this dress!

So, this might not look like a great picture, but do you have any idea how long it took to get this mediocre photo of me and the dog?!?!

Stuff I Wore: Photo Hunt

So, I found a new location indoors to take pictures that gets a bit more natural light.  However, I did not prep this location for a photo shoot.  (Also, I don't know why I look like a cross-eyed mannequin.)  Can you find three things in this photo that evidence my laziness?
Polyvore Set
Bird Print Blouse // Old Navy
No. 2 Pencil Skirt and Necklace // J. Crew, worn here, similar here
Brown Sweater Tights // Hue
Belt and Shoes // Target, worn here, similar shoes here
Are you tired of this belt / shoe combo yet?  (I also wore this combo here)

According to this photo, I can not be bothered to put away holiday decorations on time, return a space heater to the rental office or clean up dog toys.  I never blogged about it because my anger was too all consuming and I didn't want to seem crazy, but my apartment had no heat for almost an entire month.  To remedy this problem, my landlord gave me a space heater.  Yeah, that helped...NOT!  The heat was only fixed after a certain litigious tenant called the local Board of Health and alerted them that the landlord was breaking several laws by not providing heat.  I will not reveal the identity of this tenant.
Any way, back to my laziness.  This picture was taken several weeks after Valentine's Day and after the heat was returned.  And I really need to accept the fact that a dog can not pick up after herself.  And I really need to find a different location for photos that doesn't include a dog bed.

And I want to give a little shout out to Katie at Hems for Her, who is also a proud owner of this blouse.  TWO bloggers have this shirt, it must be awesome, right?!

I don't know if those are scratches on my table or cat hairs.  Either is very possible.

Shoesday: Yellow Flats

Today's post is brought to you by my cracking and decaying yellow flats.  As a little back story, I bought my yellow flats on a whim in Marshall's 3 years ago for a friend's wedding.  I was a bridesmaid in my former roommate's wedding and we had to wear yellow shoes with our navy dresses. The dresses were long and I am short, so I knew I had to find heels.  Well, after weeks of searching, the only yellow heels I could find looked like they were snatched right off a stripper, a stripper that probably had horrible back and foot problems.  So, I bought some yellow flats to throw on at the reception.  I never thought I would love them so much.
I wear my yellow flats everywhere and with everything.  They are comfortable enough for a whole day of work or sightseeing.  I love them so much, but their time to be replaced has come.  I have three criteria: comfortable, not leather and under $100.  Here are the final contenders:

1. Nine West Cyndi, $59
2. Women's FERGALICIOUS Twinkle Yellow, $40

3. Ruffle shoes, $20

And here is how I've worn my beloved yellow flats in the past.
