On a Budget: Shiny Things

I'm like a cat, I get distracted by any thing shiny. So obviously I like to incorporate pretty shinies into my outfits. But, as always, I want to save a few dollars.

Yep....your eyes do not deceive you.  That is a $1,550 price difference between those two outfits.  I don't know about you, but that outfit on the left would pay my rent.  I love sparkly things, but I think I like not living in a refrigerator box more.

Holy crap.  I don't think I have ever been this happy for it to be Friday.  I am not even writing this on Friday, so I am really just predicting that I am exhausted and excited to sleep for 12 hours straight tonight.  I've been working 12 hour days and not getting home until 8pm.  Silver lining: no rush hour traffic?  The Scot and I picked a hell of a week to stop week night drinking.  Before I hibernate, I am going to drink a butt load of beers. (Butt load probably equals 4).

Friday's Fancies: Getting my Sweatpants Ready

Today's Friday's Fancies theme is "Autumn Treats" and bloggers were tasked with creating an outfit inspired by a Fall food.  Well, my favorite Fall food is pumpkin pie.  And I associate sweat pants with pumpkin pie because by the time we get to dessert on Thanksgiving, I've had to downgrade to my eating pants.  I need that elastic waistband to fit half a pie in my belly.  I figured I couldn't just show you my cut off Victoria's Secret sweat pants and old college t-shirt, so here's a pretty orange dress.

This week's Friday's Fancies theme is "Sweater Weather," which is perfectly timed because I don't have heat or hot water after Hurricane Sandy.  So, it's actually sweatshirt and blanket weather inside my apartment.  And the water pressure is so low that I can't get the shower to work.  I washed my hair in the kitchen sink and I will spare you the details about how I bathed my body.  

And  now you're wondering, "Why couldn't you put on a sweater for this week's theme?"  Well, I am currently wearing several sweaters, but no pictures will be taken of me until I can take a proper shower.  Thankfully, I have some fingerless gloves so that I can type this.  I am cold and cranky.  Luckily, I saved some outfit photos for just such an occasion.
