Stuff I Wore: One Skirt Two Ways (Part 1)

**Did you enter my giveaway?  You totally should!
Skirt // Forever 21 (similar here)
T-Shirt // ??
Sweater // H&M (similar here)
Sneakers // Target (worn here)
Bracelet // Forever 21
So you thought I was awesome before and now you're like, "Holy crap!  She has a GI Joe t-shirt?!?!"  Yeah, I know.  I am pretty cool.  However, occasionally I am not very smart.  When the Scot and I first met, I debuted the GI Joe shirt and he was underwhelmed to say the least.  I questioned his childhood and how he could possibly not love GI Joe.   And then I remembered....GI Joe...Real American Hero.  Oh yeah....he's not American.  And looking back, GI Joe was a bit insensitive to other countries.  Almost every single member of COBRA was European.

Anyhoo, I'm trying something new here.  See that skirt?  Tomorrow I'll feature it in a business casual work outfit: One Skirt,Two Ways.

So, today I'm featuring some versatile pieces from Target for my Target Tuesday link up.

Pair this skirt with a blazer for work or with a gray t-shirt and flip flops for the weekend.
Colorblock Skirt
This dress can be worn as a bathing suit cover up or with some gold strappy heels for a night out.

The Webster Sleeveless Jersey Dress
And this is an actual convertible dress that can be tied different ways for different looks.  So, I cheated with this one.

Stuff I Wore: Polka Dots and Unrestrained Idiocy

Shorts // Target (similar here in pink)
Yellow Flats // ??? (worn here, similar here)
Gray Tee // Macy's
Necklace // Candie's for Kohl's
Bracelets // Forever 21
Purse // Juicy Couture (worn here, similar here)
I really try to restrict my idiocy to non-working hours and weekends.  However, sometimes it creeps into the work day.
I was writing an email to someone named Ted the other day.  A normal email, nothing unusual...until i realize I have addressed the email to TERD.  Luckily I caught it before I sent it and corrected the error.  However, I then I proceeded to laugh about how funny the word TERD is for  longer than an adult should.  When a co-worker asked me why I was laughing out loud alone in my office, I made up an excuse that I was watching that sneezing panda video.  Yep, they don't know I think TERD is a funny word, but now they think I watch animal videos in my office all day.  Great save...TERD....hehe.  Still funny.

TERD is a funny word and I like polka dots.  So, here's some polka dotty items from Target.

Junior's Illusion Maxi Skirt
Essential Shell Sweater
AND I have made it a full 30 days without shopping!!!  (If you don't count those bracelets I bought at Forever 21....OK I made it a full 30 days with only spending $6 shopping).  I'm calling this a victory.

Stuff I Wore: Not in Mint Condition

Top // Lauren Conrad for Kohl's (similar shape here)
Cardigan // Joe Fresh (worn here, similar here)
Mint Jeans // TJ Maxx (similar here)
Nude Flats // Steve Madden (worn here and here, similar here)
You can't really tell here because of my awesome photo editing skills, but the color ran on these jeans.  The first time I wore them I got a little spot of makeup on them.  So, I rushed to get my trusty Shout spray.  As I squeezed the trigger I knew it was a bad idea as I watched in action movie slow motion as the color began to run with each drop of stain remover.  I wound up with a discolored drippy patch on my pants.  It was too late to change, so I just suffered through the day.  So, I decided I would wash my jeans (after wearing them one more time) and now I have what I can only describe as mint acid washed jeans.  I was devastated.  I know it's only a pair of $25 pants, but I searched for these for weeks.  So much internet shopping and store hunting down the drain.

TJ Maxx is all sold out and even Target doesn't offer a replacement.  Target has some great mint accessories, but nothing to replace my mint pants, sadly.   So I've now decided the mint distressed look is in.

I already have you in pink....but I think I need you in mint.  I'll collect watches.  It will be my thing.

Bathroom Redux: Brought to You by Target

So, there's no outfit post today...because I couldn't find an outfit that segways into my Target Tuesday finds: Bathroom Accessories.  Yeah, I know, somehow I don't have any bathroom themed outfits.

The bathroom is the one place in your home in which guests will be alone.  (That's not an original thought, I read that over on A Cup of Jo)  Also, since it's the smallest room in the apartment, it's a room I can actually redecorate on a dime.  So, off I went to Target.

I wanted a white ruffled shower curtain, but I was not about to pay $70 for one at Pottery Barn.  I had found some great options on Amazon for less than $30, but then I saw this one at Target on clearance for $9!!  Ok, it only has one ruffle, but now I have some more money in my wallet.

And apparently, the theme of my bathroom makeover is compromise.  This is the bathroom rug I really wanted:

This is the one I actually got.  The Scot told me that I can't have owls in every room because people don't want to go to the crazy owl house.

And Target told me these were the towels that matched the rug, but now that I look at them, I am calling shennanigans on that.

I wanted a pretty glass soap dispenser, but I had to compromise and get an ugly plastic one because someone in this apartment keeps knocking my soap dispenser off the counter when he shaves.

And I finished off the redecorating with some prints from Etsy

and a Pinterest find to store some cotton balls.

And one last compromise... I really wanted this nightlight.

But, I was reminded that I'm an adult....and it doesn't match the bedroom decor.

Stuff I Wore: Prep it Up

When I saw this outfit in a recent J. Crew catalog, I knew I had to have it.
So, after shopping my own closet, thrifting and searching discount stores, I came up with this version
Cardigan // Liz Claiborne, worn here, similar here
Tee // Gap
Blue Pencil Skirt // Thrifted, similar here
Necklace // J. Crew Factory, worn here
Topsiders // Rocket Dog, similar here
And my high school flannel-wearing self is puking over the sheer preppiness of this outfit.  If you had asked that Nirvana-loving teen if she'd someday wear boat shoes proudly, she would have laughed your face.  Well, maybe not laughed in your face because she was waaaay too cool to even be affected by your opinions.  She would have snorted apathetically.
And if you want to adorn yourself in preppy goodies, head on over to Target.

Stuff I Wore: Striped

Striped Top // Old Navy, worn here, similar here
AG Stevie Ankles // Anthropologie, worn here, similar here
Leopard Flats // Jessica Simpson, worn here, similar here
Necklace // J. Crew Factory, worn here, similar here
Look at that awesome pattern mixing!  Stripes AND leopard?!?!  Who do I think I am?  Ok, it might not be that bold, but it's a step.
I'm usually into cutesy patterns, like birds or other little animals, but lately, I've been on the hunt for more geometric prints.  I found a ton of stripey items at Target that match my stripey shirt.  My next geometric mission is chevron.  I would like a Chevron dress and maybe a Chevron bathroom rug.  Yes, I like when my home decor matches my outfit.
So, on to Target Tuesday...and if I find a Chevron dress before next Tuesday, you know what next week's post holds.

Stuff I Wore: Pink Panther

I love these pink pants.  And you guys better get used to them because you'll be seeing them a few times, along with their cousin, the pink jeans.  Yeah, I have cords and jeans in basically the same color.  I figured I wanted to wear light pink pants all year round.  The color is so feminine and soft (and it doesn't hurt that they somehow elongate my stumpy legs).  I also never thought of pink as a neutral, but these pants go with so much surprisingly.

I'm also surprised how much I love these Western booties from Target.  They go with everything: skirts, jeans and pink pants.  If you want your own pair of awesome Target shoes, now is the time.  Target is running a buy one get one 50% off sale on shoes and hand bags.  So, I'm linking up with Fabulous But Evil to bring you my favorite items from the sale.
