Yes, I know that my feet are cut off in all of theses pictures.  No, the Scot did not forget how to take blog photos.  He is a true professional.  My shoes are not featured in these pictures because I finally succumbed to the power of the snow and ice and wore sensible shoes.  However, sensible does not equal cute.  Big ugly boots just did not go with my sequin blazer and Loren Hope earrings.  I just made sure to go out that night to a place where I was sitting and no one would look at my shoes.  Just pretend I am barefoot.

Do you ever put fashion over comfort?

I thought it was time to put away my cat print mint shirt for the winter, but then Laura of Walking in Memphis in High Heels asked me to do a little fall mint styling with her!  I ripped this minty feline top out of the storage bin and put it on.  As I stood as pants-less as Donald Duck in front of my open closet, I wondered how I would make this top appropriate for colder months.  The obvious answer was a sweater, but I hate to be obvious.  The it hit me...what makes any outfit scream fall?  Faux leather.  Ok, maybe real leather screams fall more...but no animals were hurt in the making of this outfit.

And check out Laura's take on cold weather mint fashion.

This little birdie adorned frock is one of my favs.  It was also my first Anthropologie purchase AND my first bird print item.  I can't even imagine my life without bird-printed Anthropologie items.  This dress introduced me to so many of my favorite things!  And I just don't celebrate it enough.  So, I knew I needed to figure out another way to wear it.  It was fate that this minty little sweater perfectly matched the little birdies....and that my Rocks Box this month was full of minty goodies.  The stars truly aligned to create this outfit.

Monochrome in Mint

Dress: Target (similar) | Necklace: Bauble Bar (worn, similar) |
Bracelets: Sira and Mara & J. Crew (worn, similar here) Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs via Marshall's (similar) |

I've been seeing a few other blogger ladies doing the monochromatic thing.  Once I realized how many shades of mint were in my closet and jewelry box...I figured I should put them all together.  Maybe it's called overkill, but I am going to call it the monochromatic trend.

Look What I Got: Hard Earned Prabal Gurung

Dress: Prabal Gurung for Target | Shoes: Dolce Vita via Marshalls (similar) |
Necklace: J. Crew Factory (worn, similar) | Sunnies: Betsey Johnson via Marshall's (worn, similar) | Bracelets: Groopdealz & C. Wonder (worn) |
Earrings & Ring: Nissa Jewelry (giveaway win from Lipgloss & Crayons)

Getting this dress was quite a journey.  I trekked to two different Targets the weekend the collection debuted.  However, unbeknownst to me, not all stores had the full collection and it was sold out online.  I thought all was lost...since there was no way I was paying above retail on eBay.  Then, by chance, I saw Carly of Lipgloss and Crayons wearing the dress.  (OK, not by chance...I read her blog everyday).  I commented that I loved the dress and couldn't find it.  Well, Carly replied that she had an extra dress that she ordered online....IN MY SIZE!   It was fate.  Carly and I did a quick Paypal transaction and the dress was in the mail.  However, UPS then held my package hostage.  It took several angry phone calls with UPS call center folks, but the Scot was finally able to rescue my dress from the depths of a sketchy UPS facility.  And then immediately after, I won Carly's giveaway for some fabulous earrings and a ring.  With all my treats from Carly, I was able to duplicate her outfit exactly.....I promise I am not creepy.
And now it's time for the link up.

Weekend Update: Thriftin' and Relaxin'

For casual Friday, I revived my mint jeans.  They're a little tie-dyed because all the dye ran after the first washing, but I am calling them "distressed."  And I semi-copied this outfit from the other Tara at Mix and Match Fashion.
Blazer // Calvin Klein (similar here); Tee // Old Navy;
Mint Jeans // TJ Maxx (worn here, similar here); Shoes // Old Navy (similar here)

Bracelets // Forever 21, Kohl's and Target (worn here, similar here and here)
Ring // Macy's (similar here)

This weekend was pretty uneventful, except I did a little thrifting.  The things I didn't buy were more exciting than the things I actually bought (a striped tee and polka dot capris).  I found items that were creepy and confusing (pastel clown picture?) and items that reminded me of my childhood.  I definitely had that troll doll and I definitely read the first book in the Goosebumps series, "Welcome to Dead House."  Maybe next time I'll find some Popples and Smurfs.

And of course this weekend Apollo had to be a dick while I was cleaning out my closet and sit on my summer hat.
Oh, and I finally know who killed Rosie Larsen, so now I can move on with my life.

Weekend Update: Too Hot to Handle

Dress // Forever 21 (similar here); Earrings // Anthropologie (worn here, similar here);
Necklace // J. Crew Factory (worn here, similar here); Flip Flops // Banana Republic

Bracelets // Forever 21 and Target.  One "bracelet" is a hair tie from Anthro.
This weekend I celebrated my bestie Elena's birthday in Princeton.  Yeah yeah, we had fun and drank all day.  It was so hot.  I was too sweaty for public display, so there were no pictures.
However, the real story of my weekend was my cat, Apollo.  If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I humiliated Apollo and got him a super cool lion cut.  Before you judge me, you have to know, this guy is a furry little asshole.  He consistently scratches the dog in the face, eats all the other cat's food, knocks anything expensive over in the apartment, grabs any food left unattended, AND he begins screaming every morning at 5 am outside my bedroom door to be fed.  So anyway, the king of the apartment had to be taken down a notch...and needed less hair for the summer. (For reference, this is what he looked like before.)

He's now the most pathetic creature I've ever seen.  The other cat doesn't recognize him and has been hissing at him all weekend.  He's no longer allowed near the food bowls or the litter box.  The dog now has access to lick him unobstructed by a thick layer of protective hair.  Side note: I have no idea why my idiot dog wants nothing more than to lick the cats.  Apollo has been glued to me all weekend for protection from hissing and licking.
And to continue the crazy cat lady theme of the weekend, Sunday I watched a marathon of "Say Yes to the Dress"  and "Hoarding: Buried Alive" and clipped coupons.  I wasn't crying or wearing a wedding dress while doing this, so I guess it wasn't THAT pathetic.

Stuff I Wore: Teal Crush

Mint Jeans // TJ Maxx (worn here, similar here)
Sweater // TJ Maxx (similar here)
Necklace // Talbots (similar here)
Flip Flops // Banana Republic
Sunnies // Betsey Johnson (worn here, similar here)
Today I'm linking up with Long Distance Loving for Friday's Fancies. This week's theme: Color Crush.  It's very apparent that I'm not afraid of color or kooky color combos.  However, I cheated and picked teal.  Yeah, it's pretty much the same as mint and I already posted about my mint jeans this week.  Today, I'm calling them teal and posting about them again.  It's been a long week.

I did acid wash these jeans when I put them in the laundry.  However, because I am gross super economical environmentalist, I did wear them once more before I ruined them.  Ok, none of you out there can tell me you don't wear pants more than once.  If you claim you wash your pants after every wear, I am calling shenanigans...unless you're a Kardashian because I heard somewhere that they just throw clothes away after wearing them.  If you're a Kardashian I will believe that you only wore your TJ Maxx mint jeans once.

I think this necklace can irrefutably be classified as teal.  I love this necklace, but I feel like I only have a short window in which to wear it.  I can't be prancing around in the snow or the autumn leaves in a necklace made of plastic coral.  I think this just means I need to plan more tropical vacations.

Here are some teal items I am craving.  Yes, I NEED another teal necklace, don't judge me.  After my bday jaunt in NYC, I've decided I need a pair of Tom's.  (Is is Tom's or Tom's.  I am so uncool).  Every damn hipster in Williamsburg was wearing them.  They looked so comfortable...and judgmental and arrogant with a misplaced feeling of superiority...but comfortable nonetheless.  I just hope they come in leopard as well as teal.
