Brocade Skirt and Dots

holiday skirt 1 holiday skirt 2 holiday skirt 3 holiday skirt 5 holiday skirt 4

I picked up this skirt on my last trip down to Washington DC in one of my favorite shops: Violet Boutique.  I have a little ritual when I travel to our nation's capital.  I get a falafel lunch at Amsterdam Falafel, a beer (or 3) at the Black Squirrel, and then I buy myself something pretty at Violet.  It's really my perfect afternoon, combining all of my great loves in life: fried food, beer, and shopping.  The Scot is usually there too.

Look What I Got Link Up: More Cheap Anthro and Pattern Mixing

Anthro floral and dots 4
Top: StyleMint (worn, similar) | Skirt: Anthropologie (similar) | Boots: Macy's (worn) |
Bracelets: Michael Kors, Guess & Favery |
Ring: Gamine via Rocks Box | Necklace: Gorjana via Rocks Box
Anthro and floral dots 5 Anthro floral and dots 1
I've been calling this $35 skirt from the Anthropologie clearance rack "polka dot denim."  However, now that I look at these pictures, it's not polka dot.  The "dots" have holes in the middle.  Is it more appropriate to call it hollow polka dot?  Cheerio print?  Doughnut print?  Well, I like doughnuts more than Cherrios...so this is my doughnut print skirt from the clearance rack.

Look What I Got Link Up: Cut Out Booties and Polka Dots

Dress: Old Navy (exact) | Necklace: Style Lately (similar) | Booties: DSW (similar) |
Watch: Target (similar) | Bracelets: Bauble Bar (similar)
dots and tassels 6 dots and tassels 5 dots and tassels 4 dots and tassels 3 dots and tassels 2 dots and tassels 1

Cut-out booties appear to be all the rage this season.  Pros of the cut-out bootie: Your tootsies stay cool with a little ventilation.  Cons of the cut-out bootie: You can't wear socks because it just looks silly.  So, these booties were made for warmer days....or tights.  And I just eliminated the cons.  Score!

And you can score booties like these for cheap at DSW.  I got these for $27 (on sale for $45 plus an extra 40% off).  And did you see what I did there with the word score?  I am a master of segways.

And honorable mention goes to my $18 Old Navy dress and $1.99 Style Lately tassel necklace.

And now for the link up!

Camoflage, Rhinestones, Dots and a Scarf Giveaway!

Shoes: TOMS (similar) | Scarf: c/o Nimli (similar) | NJ Necklace: Fifth & Mae (exact) |
Bracelets: thirfted, Groopdealz, & Favery (worn here & here; similar here & here)

stripes and camo 4 stripes and camo 3

stripes and camo 2 stripes and camo 1
This is how I am doing one of this year's hottest trends, camouflage....in small doses and with rhinestones.  Camouflage pants are just not for me.  A concerned friend once stopped me from buying pink camouflage pants many years ago.  Although I still mourn the loss of those pants, I know it was the right decision.  There are just some trends that aren't for everyone.
However, I never pattern mix in small doses.  Ok, maybe this outfit has too many patterns in it.  But, maybe because the striped shirt and polka dotted scarf are the same colors, they really only count as one pattern.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
And if you like my scarf...you can't have it...but you can win a similar one from Nimli
Nimli is a curated market place that sells everything from clothing, to makeup to home goods.  You can pretty much find anything on there!  So, enter below with the Rafflecopter widget.

Stitch Fix #5: An Ill Fitting Fix

 photo StitchFix5banner_zps1c41ce55.jpg

I was a little disappointed in my Stitch Fix this month because nothing seemed to fit right.  However, there was one little frock I fell in love with and the amazing customer service at Stitch Fix was able to get it for me in the correct size.  Unfortunately, as a result of the ill fit of all the items in my fix....there aren't outfit photos of the things I did not keep.

What I Wore Wednesday: Double Dots and the Falls

Jeans: Target (worn) | Blazer: Marshall's (similar) | Shoes: Old Navy (similar) | Scarf: Target (worn) |
Bracelets: Groopdealz, Bauble Bar, c/o Brighthouse Baubles (worn)

I wore this get up out and about in Niagara Falls with the Scot and his parents for the Maid of the Mist Tour.  It was easy to decide to pair my polka dot blazer with my polka dot jeans, but you know what wasn't so easy?  Getting into that damn poncho for the boat tour of the Falls.

Weekend Update: Polka Dots and Coming Out as a Blogger

Top: Very J via Stitch Fix (worn) | Jeans: Target | Flats: J. Crew via Plato's Closet (worn) |
Bracelets: Groopdealz & Bauble Bar | Necklace: Rocks Box | Earrings: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's (similar)

I am proud to report that after months of searching, I found the perfect pair of polka dot skinnies this weekend.  After the debacle that was the wonky-crotched Old Navy Rockstar skinnies, I went back out on the hunt.  And, of course, Target came through.  These jeans are the softest, stretchiest, most pajama-iest jeans ever....all for $25.
I immediately put my new dotted pants on for a dinner party at a friends house this weekend.  These friends live on a dead end street...the dream fashion blogger photo local.  So, the Scot and I had to sneak out of the gathering when the light was right to snap some photos.  And that's when I had to explain that I have a fashion blog...and what a fashion blog is.  It was my coming out...as a blogger.
