Look What I Got: Stella and Dot Giveaway!

dress cardigan sneakers Stella & Dot Bloom Necklace Kate Spade bow belt dress cardigan navy dress yellow cardigan Kate Spade Striped Bow Belt Navy laser cut Dress with Sneakers Kate Spade Striped Bow Belt fringe purse

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I took a little mini vacation down to Orlando...more on that next week!  I am a chronic over-packer.  So, I always try to plan my outfits carefully so that I don't get yelled at by the flight attendants for my over-stuffed carry on bag.
I am especially bad with over-packing jewelry.  I like to have a choice of baubles.  However, this time around i was determined not to fill my purse with shiny trinkets.  I needed to leave room for snacks.
I wanted to go with a statement piece that could go with everything.  Neutral flashy if you will.  The Bloom Necklace fit the bill.  It packs quite the punch, but can be paired with pretty much anything.  For one of our walking around days (hence the sneakers), I was able to spice up a plain navy dress.  An additional plus is that it's not heavy at all.  It looks like quite a weighty flower, but it's super comfortable and light!

Bloom Necklace: c/o Stella & Dot (exact)
Belt: Kate Spade (exact)

Stitch Fix #7: A Transitional Fix

Stitch Fix 7 1

This time, my fix was filled with pieces I was hopeful would help me transition into Fall.  However, I was a bit disappointed....
Stitch Fix 7 2
Jordie Abstract Floral Fit & Flare Dress: Mystree ($68).  I can't say enough negative things about this dress.  I had high hopes because I liked the cut and pattern in the picture.  However, this was a cheap piece of crap. The fabric was some sort of polyester blend.  it was super thin and felt like one of those cheap nightgowns you would get from KMart as a kid.  Maybe if this dress had My Little Ponies or New Kids on the Block on it I would have been more forgiving.
Stitch Fix 7 3
Brianna Double Clover Drop Earrings: Zad ($28).  These earrings looked cheap and dated.  They looked like something you'd see on that weird, sad jewelry rack at the register at a drug store...except they were 10 times the price.
Stitch Fix 7 4
Kendall Cross Front Tab Sleeve Blouse: Kut from the Kloth ($58).  Well, hello, why yes that is my bra.  Reason #1 I did not keep this top: I would've had to wear another shirt under it.  If I am paying $58 for a shirt, I expect it to function as a shirt without assistance.  Reason #2: Bat wings.  Enough said.

June Polka Dot Skirt: Pixley ($58).  I've been searching for a polka dot pencil skirt.  I liked this one, but I didn't $58 like it.  It was stretchy and not as structured as I like my pencil skirts.
Stitch Fix 7 5

Duke V-Neck Sleeveless Blouse: 41Hawthorn ($54).  This is actually the only item I kept from my Fix.  I love the color and the fabric is super soft and flowy.  I realized I needed some more basic separates in my wardrobe, and this top was the perfect addition!

Have you tried Stitch Fix?  Did you get a box this month?  Let me know what you got, loved, kept!  If you posted it about it on your blog, let me know in the comments!

Stitch Fix #6: A Casual Fix

Casual Fix 1

After taking a little break from Stitch Fix, I jumped back on the band wagon.  I think I forgot how fun it is to get this little monthly box of goodies.

casual fix 2
Shiva Filigree Print Mixed Material Top: Market & Spruce ($48)
This was by far my favorite item from my fix.  The pattern is adorable and is perfect for mixing with stripes and dots.  It's super soft and flowy.  It's long enough to wear untucked, but also easily tucks into a skirt.  I don't own enough separates.  I am a dress addict, as you can see from my collection behind me in this pic.  I have so many pretty skirts that I barely wear because I just don't have tops.  I figured this top was a start on my mission to wear all my skirts.

Casual Fix 3
Monet Mini Facet Bib Necklace: Pixley ($38)
I have a statement necklace problem.  So, I had to stay away from this one.  However, I was not thrilled with the colors and it seemed to get kinked and tangled easily.  This was a pass for me.

Priya Abstract Floral Print Tank: Pomelo ($48)
Although I loved the print on this and it was super duper soft and luxurious, I knew I wouldn't get much use out of a tank.  I don't like having my arms exposed.  It's not really a vanity thing...more like I am always cold when in an air conditioned building.  It's a little too flowy to put a cardigan over.  So, this one went back in the box.

Casual Fix 4

Lorna Diagnol Stripe Maxi Skirt: Gilli ($58)
It's a pretty difficult task to find a maxi skirt that isn't a tripping hazard on me.  I was impressed with this skirt since it had the wide fold-over waist band, the length could be adjusted a bit to fit this shorty.  However, the price tag of $58 seemed a bit much for me for a striped maxi.  I think I might check out Target for this one.  Again, this one was a pass for me.

Joshua Colored Ankle Jean: Pink Martini ($64) (not pictured)
There is a picture of the mint colored skinnies missing from this post.  And that's because I could barely get this up over my muffin top and zipped.  I think the fly length was about 1 cm.  Stitch Fix clearly knows my age.  No one over 25 should be wearing butt-crack exposing jeans.  Ladies, once you start blowing out more than 25 candles each year, switch to a mid-rise.  I will even take a sensible low-rise....just not whatever the super ultra ridiculous low rise business this is.

And on that note, grandma is done complaining

Stitch Fix #5: An Ill Fitting Fix

 photo StitchFix5banner_zps1c41ce55.jpg

I was a little disappointed in my Stitch Fix this month because nothing seemed to fit right.  However, there was one little frock I fell in love with and the amazing customer service at Stitch Fix was able to get it for me in the correct size.  Unfortunately, as a result of the ill fit of all the items in my fix....there aren't outfit photos of the things I did not keep.

Stitch Fix #4: A Patterned Fix

Oh Stitch Fix, you (almost) did it again.  This fix was filled with adorable patterns.  I made it out of this fix with only one item, but a desire to order my next fix.
Santina Sleeveless Printed Dress: Sweet Rain ($68)
The shape, the pattern, the length...all great!  My favorite part of this dress was the collar.  You can't really tell from the picture, but the collar is two layers.  However, there were two problems with the dress: 1. It was too tight across the chest. 2. It's the same color as my skin.
Jaelyn Chevron Stripe Hi-Lo Blouse: Fun2Fun ($48)
I can't tell you how long I've been looking for a chevron blouse.  Unfortunately, this was not the one for me.  The fabric was great and I loved the hi-lo hemline, but the cut was just not right for me.  I need a more defined waistline.

Hazel Sheer Flutter Sleeve Top: DownEast ($28)
The color and patter of this blouse was great, but the fit was not.  I HATE flutter sleeves and the bottom of the shirt was too narrow to fit over my hips, so it bunched up.

Jannet Striped Jersey Skirt: Mystree ($88)
This is the softest skirt I have ever felt.  It drapes in all the right places and I love a good stripe.  I am still kicking myself for putting it back in the envelope back to Stitch Fix.  Damnit!

Gold Spear Earrings: Betty Carre ($38)
And on to the item I actually kept.  These earrings are awesome.  At first I thought they were too plain, but the sleek shape grew on me the more I looked at them.  They go with everything!
So, that was my latest fix!  I can't wait to schedule my next one!

What I Wore Wednesday: Stitch Fix #3

Don't forget to enter my 30th birthday giveaway!  Kate Spade earrings, Julep nail polish & more!

I just can't resist Stitch Fix!  I love getting these packages in the mail filled with fashion picked out just for me.  And each fix keeps getting better as they learn what I like and don't like and my sizing.  So, let's get right to it.  FYI...the theme of this fix should have been "I loved it, but...."  However, I had already made the graphic and I am a bit short on time this week.
Double Spade Charm Necklace: Fornash

First up, my accessory.  This cute little teal necklace.  It's a great length...but....I had just purchased a teal necklace from Rocks Box a few weeks ago.  It's like Stitch Fix was reading my mind...but was just a tad too late.
Isadora Cowl Sleeveless Jersey Top: 41Hawthorn

This top was so soft and the perfect length.  I passed on it because I just could not justify spending the money on a plain black top.  I think it was a poor decision....because I always say you should invest in basics...not super trendy stuff.  *Sigh*  I need to follow my own advice.

Tahlia Stripe Sheer Shortsleeve Top: Olive and Oak

I loved the colors of this striped top and thought it would be the perfect pattern mixer.  How cute does it look with my polka dotted skinnies?!  However, the bottom of the top was a bit narrow and didn't fit over my hips, so it bunched up weirdly.

Kesey Bird Print Belted Dress: Kensie

My favorite item in the fix was this dress.  You can never have too many bird print items in my opinion.  I also loved the little bow belt it came with.  Unfortunately, I could barely breathe in the dress.  And, by the time I emailed Stitch Fix's amazing customer service....they had run out of the dress in the larger size.  I was a little heart broken.  But I will live.  (I really do need to give a shout out to their customer service.  I got a response about this dress within a few hours and the rep even double checked to make sure no one had returned the bigger size recently with their fix).
Spinelli Belted Floral Print Dress: Kensie

Then, there was this gorgeous sleeveless floral dress.  It fit perfectly, the belt was adorable and I loved the vintage-y floral patter.  However, I had JUST purchased a sleeveless floral dress!  Seriously, Stitch Fix, get out of my head!
And I have already scheduled my next fix...no more shopping until that comes!

Weekend Update: Polka Dots and Coming Out as a Blogger

Top: Very J via Stitch Fix (worn) | Jeans: Target | Flats: J. Crew via Plato's Closet (worn) |
Bracelets: Groopdealz & Bauble Bar | Necklace: Rocks Box | Earrings: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's (similar)

I am proud to report that after months of searching, I found the perfect pair of polka dot skinnies this weekend.  After the debacle that was the wonky-crotched Old Navy Rockstar skinnies, I went back out on the hunt.  And, of course, Target came through.  These jeans are the softest, stretchiest, most pajama-iest jeans ever....all for $25.
I immediately put my new dotted pants on for a dinner party at a friends house this weekend.  These friends live on a dead end street...the dream fashion blogger photo local.  So, the Scot and I had to sneak out of the gathering when the light was right to snap some photos.  And that's when I had to explain that I have a fashion blog...and what a fashion blog is.  It was my coming out...as a blogger.

What I Wore Wednesday: A Mod Fix

My second shipment from Stitch Fix came....all the way back in February; but so little time, so many outfits.  I did, however, keep one piece from my Fix: a mod style colorblocked dress.  I didn't have anything like it in my closet AND it was a bright orange, so how could I resist?  Well, there were four more items that were (some sadly) sent back.

This other colorblocked number was great...maybe a little blousy up top, but looks like several other things in my closet.  So, back it went.

I loved the little bow detail on the back of this sweater.  I am actually unsure why I passed on it looking back at the pictures.

I love a good pencil skirt, however, this one was a little snug on me.  It was just a bit too sexy for the office.

I stressed over these earrings for several days.  They ultimately went back because I had bought a pair of earrings that same week.

Dress: Stitch Fix | Cardigan: The Limited |
Floral Bouquet Petal Earrings and Floral Bouquet Spiral Necklace: Banana Republic (worn) |
Boots: Macy's (worn, similar) | Ring: Vintage Avon |
Bracelets: Groopdealz & Bauble Bar (worn, similar & similar)

So, here I am Mod-Squad-ing it up outside my apartment.  And I feel obligated to mention this: The Scot bought me that necklace and earrings for Valentine's Day...all by himself with no input from me.  He's pretty darn proud of himself.  His smugness is unbearable.  He even thought he could buy himself a chambray shirt without consulting me.
