How do you know if you spend too much time shopping?  When you have to make a whole blog about it?  I feel like that's a pretty good indicator.  But, seriously, how much time is too much time to spend perusing the Internet for great dealsand scouring Marshall's and TJ Maxx for a steal?  When I saw this dress at TJ Maxx last fall, I fell in love.  I love how Rebecca Taylor's designs can be girly, whimsical and chic all at once.  However, my modest bank account does not condone my love affair with RT.  So, what did I do?  I visited this dress at TJ Maxx once a week for almost two months until it went far enough on sale for me to purchase.  That sounds like a pretty sick obsession, right?  Well, I pass TJ Maxx on my way home from work and each trip was about 5 minutes.  So, I maybe spent 40 minutes shopping for this dress in total.

However, this vest was a different story.  I spent countless hours going to the mall, perusing online retailers and scouring Poshmark for the perfect faux fur cropped vest.  I spent so long looking for it, that by the time I found one I loved....winder was more than half over.  Also, after I finally found the vest, I actually had the thought...."Well?  What do I do now?"  Was I really spending that much of my free time shopping that I didn't know what to do with myself after I had acquired my find?!  That's insane!  It's not like I even spend a lot of money online shopping.  I just spend soooo much time looking. Also, I am a professional woman, in a relationship, with a dog (and a cat), with lots of friends.  I have so many other and better things I could be doing with my spare time.
So, now I am putting limits on myself.  No more losing track of time online shopping.  I will only online shop during my Sunday morning couch sessions and I will only take a trip to Marshall's or TJ Maxx once a month.  I am not saying I am going to replace that time with worthwhile endeavors like reading classic novels, or learning another language, or cooking a hot meal once in a while.  I'll probably just get more blog reading and cat cuddling done during the week.

The Scot has forbid me from purchasing any more owl home items.  I have a lamp, salt and pepper shakers, pictures and numerous little sculptures around the house.  He claims that people do not want to come to the "crazy owl house."  However, he did not specify that I was not allowed to purchase owl clothing items.  Enter these shoes.  So now I am the crazy owl lady living in the crazy owl house.

Maybe it was wishful thinking to wear floral peep toe shoes when there's still half a foot of snow and ice on the ground?  Well, everyday is a fashion show for me.  At least I balanced out the absurdity of wearing floral peep toes in the frozen tundra by adding in some faux fur and stockings.  Not only would my toes have frozen off, but my piggies have not seen a pedicure or a bottle of polish since September.

Well, you should start priming your piggies for warmer weather because online designer shoe retailer The Scarpetta is offering you the chance to WIN FREE SHOES FOR A YEAR!  Yes, you read that correctly.  The Scarpetta wants to see how you make your everyday a fashion show by sharing your fabulous looks on Pinterest. And even if you don't win, you should start shopping the hundreds of designer shoes over at The Scarpetta

Sparkles and Fur

It's winter, it's the holiday season....so it's appropriate to go all out and wear sparkles and fur at the same time.

And oh wait...I also wore some faux leather.  I'm just a fashion glutton.  I've also been a food glutton the past few days weeks.  My absence from the blog world is due to my attendance at 4 (wait, 5?) Christmas celebrations.  I have a big family...and we like to celebrate stuff.  So, I've been eating my weight daily in mashed potatoes and cookies.  As of January 2nd, I am going to quit that behavior.  I only have a few more days of absurd gluttony.  I must bask in it.

Don't forget to enter BOTH of my fab giveaways going on now!

When I spotted this faux fur vest on the clearance rack at Marshall's, I thought to myself, "where am I going to wear this?"  Answer: Anywhere I damn well please.
The Scot tried to convince me not to get it.  In the end I convinced him I would get it, prance around in it, and decide whether I could make it work.  Well, these photos tell you exactly what happened.  I made it work.

Stuff I Wore: And now with more crazy cat lady

Yep, I'm still working on my backlog of OOTD's.  And as you can see, my beloved Kate Spade iPhone case is no more.  I dropped my phone at the Giants game on Christmas Eve.  (Yes, I enjoy watching organized sports.  Actually, it's probably just the tailgating and drinking beer outside that appeals to me.  Wait, there's a game?  But I haven't finished my beer and snacks yet!)
The iPhone made it out without a scratch, but the case took a beating.  I guess it served its purpose of protecting the phone, right?  So, now I have resorted back to my Lilly Pulitzer case, which I traded out because after a day of using it, your hand is covered in little flecks of blue and orange.  Lilly, you do so many things right, just not iPhone cases.
Well, here's a coat my mom got me for Christmas.  I feel like it really matches the sack of cat food she also got me.  When I opened it Christmas morning, my sister just looks at me and says, "You've turned into Grandma."  I take it as a compliment.  My grandma was a stylish lady.  We're talking hats and raccoon fur coat stylish.  Ok, I don't agree with the whole fur thing, but you get the idea of her style.

Or you can search for a fur collar and add it to your favorite coat  like That Damn Green Dress did here.

That wasn't enough crazy for you?  Add a hat!
