Stuff I Love: April / May 2012 Edition

So, I haven't been doing my Love Lists for the past few months because...well, because I am just a little lazy.
1. BB Cream
Source
Available at Target
After reading all about this apparently magical substance called BB Cream, I wanted to try it out for myself.  I want to preface this by saying that I need to wear some pretty heavy duty foundation if I want to see any difference.  I have a whole myriad of face problems.  I'm pale, freckled and large pore'd.  And just to add insult to injury, I also have horrible under eye circles.  So, my lazy ass was excited to hear that there was a moisturizer, primer and foundation in one.  Now, this product does not replace my regimen of moisturizing, priming and foundation-ing(?); however, it provides enough coverage for my everyday life.  On fancy days I will still lather up my face with product.

2. Essie Navigate Her
Buy Here
I don't have much to say about this color other than I saw it on a waitress while at lunch one day and immediately ran out to buy it.

3. Peplum
Mint Texture Peplum Skirt
I love this peplum trend.  It accentuates the hourglass shape, while covering up pesky middle rolls.  This skirt will most likely be my next purchase.

4. Addakitty

There is a freakin' iPhone app that does nothing but add pictures of cats to your pictures.  I don't need to say any thing else.  Expect to see some kitty photo-bombed outfit photos.

5. Don't Trust the B -- in Apartment 23

Source
This show is about some mid-western girl who moves in with some bitch in NYC.  I don't care about the main storyline.  I care that this show stars JAMES VAN DER BEEK.  He plays an exaggerated version of himself still living in the shadows of his former Dawson's Creek stardom.  He stars in a Japanese energy drink commercial, is on Dancing with the Stars and comes out with his own line of jeans ("Put your cheeks in a Beek.").  Oh yeah, it's on Wednesday's at 9:30 on ABC.

6. NJ Craft Beer Card

I paid $20 for this discount card and now I get money off food and drink bills at a variety of restaurants in the area that serve craft beers.  If you live in NJ, this card is totally worth it.  I've already saved $50.  Maybe the fact that I've saved $50 on food and beer in the last month is the reason why I haven't lost any weight.

Stuff I Love: March 2012 Edition

So, it's halfway through March and I haven't even done my love list.  So, here it is.

1. All Things Green and St. Patrick's Day.  This includes the Shamrock Shake which I have already written about.  I seriously have too many green dresses, 4.  What am I talking about?  You can't have TOO many of a great thing.  And be proud, I have limited my Shamrock Shake consumption to 2 this season, soon to be made 3 tonight.

2. Mad Men (including the Banana Republic Collection)
I have to ask is he really going out with to marry her?  (I couldn't resist the cheesy song reference).
Ok, this poster is super creepy, but for those of us that are members of the cult of Don Draper, it speaks volumes.  Will Don be falling deeper into an alcoholic adulterous pit despite his new marriage?  I hope so.  Ok, shut up, Don Draper is not a real person.  It's OK for me to wish bad things upon him.  Seriously, you can only cheat on your wife so many times before I get pissed.  Wait, am I angry at a fictional person?

3. The Lorax.
Source
I missed out on seeing it opening weekend because all the showtimes were sold out.  Stupid kids.  But, I got to see it last weekend...and it was AWESOME.  I think it's exactly how Dr. Suess would have wanted it.  And Danny DeVito was the perfect choice for the voice of the Lorax.  He kind of even looks like him.

4. Doomsday Preppers.  This is the most awesome show ever.  There are people stockpiling meat in jars and building underground bunkers.  One of my favorite parts of the show is when they tell you the scenarios the people are preparing for are pretty much impossible.  So, the Earth isn't going to flip on its axis causing massive earthquakes?  And we aren't going to run of out oil and immediately resort to cannibalism?  I guess I should return the 3 years worth of canned corn I bought.

5. Neon.  I am going to look like a 14 year old's 80's birthday party this spring.

6. Pastel Nail Polish.  Check out Essie's Wedding Collection for some great pastels.

Stuff I Love: February 2012 Edition

1. Shopkick
Source
Shopkick is a free app for Android or iPhone that gives you points and coupons for using it.  You can then redeem those points for gift cards.  You get points by walking into stores, scanning items in stores or just clicking on stuff.  I don't know what kind of gypsy magic lets the app know how many times I got to Target each week, but I rack up quite a few points for it.  It's pretty awesome and I am well on my way to a $25 Target gift card.

2. Jason Wu for Target
Source
Everyone is already writing about this, so I don't feel like I need to say much more, other than I want the navy dress and the cat bag (of course).  The collection will be available online and in stores on Super Bowl Sunday.  I am a little scared to go to Target that morning based on the stories I heard about the Missoni madness.
3. Alcatraz
J.J. Abrams delivered exactly what I was expecting from a TV show, a deep seeded mystery, a lot of unnecessarily overdramatic string music, and a fat guy that says "dude" a lot.  All kidding aside, I do like the show.  The underlying mystery is that a bunch of prisoners disappeared from Alcatraz 40 years ago and now they are all reappearing, looking exactly the same.  So, Hurley, Sam Neill and some blonde lady have to capture them all.  So, each week you get a little stand alone crime drama and some Lost-esque mystery thrown in.

4. Kelly Clarkson
Well, not Kelly Clarkson exactly, although I do love her.  I am specifically enamored with the commercial for the Toyota Camry starring Kelly, Chris Berman, James Lipton and Andrew Zimmerman.  I love the grouping of all these people and I really LOVE James Lipton singing in the backseat.

5. Bold Watches.
I've been obsessing about watches lately.  I love how big bold watches look paired with a myriad of bracelets.  I've invested in a $12 Target watch in (what else) hot pink.
But, I really want a white ceramic Michael Kors watch.  Anyone have $500 I can have?

Stuff I Love: January 2012 Edition

It's already the 12th of the month and I haven't even done my Stuff I Love list yet.  I've got a backlog of OOTD posts and so many other ideas swimming around in my head.
1. Ringer
So, admittedly, I was obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  So, when I heard SMG was making her triumphant return to TV, I was ecstatic.  And what a return it was, a double-crossing, evil twin, drug addiction, murder kind of triumph.  Ringer starts off with Bridget (SMG) escaping from witness protection after she witnesses a murder committed by a drug dealing mobster.  She flees to the safety of her estranged identical twin sister, Siobhan, who just happens to be married to a millionaire.  And wouldn't you know, as soon as she gets there her sister commits suicide, or so you think.  Bridget assumes Siobhan's identity and then the fun begins.  You can catch up on CW's website before the show's return on January 31st.

2. Rebecca Taylor
Since I've started shopping at Bloomingdale's (only for their after Christmas sale), I've discovered the wonder that is Rebecca Taylor.  Her dresses are feminine and flowy.  If it wasn't for the prices, they would be at the top of my wishlist.  However, a few of the items below are on sale at Bloomingdales....hmmm.

3. Bicycle Print
Have I lost my damn mind?  Do I need TWO articles of clothing with bikes on them?  YES, yes I do.

4. Bright Pumps
Bright colored pumps are everywhere this season.  I already have my bright blue pumps (seen here and here), but I crave more colors.  Target has an AWESOME coral pair that I am drooling over currently, but they are $30.  Who do you think you are Target?  I need them to be $20 before I crack.

Mossimo Pemota Chunky Heel Pump

And these lovely pumps lead me to my next January love...

5. Tangerine or Coral or whatever version of orangey pink you want to call it

6. Victoria's Secret Bombshell
Victoria's Secret Bombshell

This perfume is (I'm just going to say it) THE BOMB.  I'm usually not a huge fan of perfumes because I think that most smell like a potpourri ball inside my grandma's drawer.  (Did any one else's grandma keep a little satchel of smelly stuff in with her clothes...most likely from Crabtree and Evelyn?  No, I'm the only one with the crazy scented grandma?)  So, back to Bombshell.  This perfume is light and sweet.  Victoria's Secret tells me it contains vanilla orchid, yellow peony and purple passion fruit.  I assume that's a recipe for a form of scented crack, because I can not stop smelling it.  I've been wearing this perfume almost everyday and it somehow puts me in a good mood.

7. My Glam and Birch Box
It's pretty simple, you sign up for My Glam or Birch Box and receive a bag of 4-5 samples of beauty products each month.  You also have to pay $10 each month.  I just signed up for My Glam and I am super excited to receive my first bag of samples!  Their websites features product demos and tutorials for each of the samples each month.

I really need a signature here or something don't I?

Stuff I Love: December Edition

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Well, I might be exaggerating.  I don't know if this is all-caps important.  It appears as though Google Friend connect and blogger's following option are crapping out on us.  So, I've now signed up for Bloglovin'.  Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Happy December!! Here's my list of things that I love this month. It's no secret to any one that I love Christmas.  I love the trees, the lights, the ornaments, the movies, the presents...everything.
1. Eggnog (and eggnog flavored items).  I love a good egg nog and brandy in front of the Christmas tree.  However, egg nog (much like pumpkin) is a flavor that goes well with many foods.  One of my favorite egg noggy items is Starbucks' eggnog latte.

2. Method's Holiday Collection.  I love Method products.  Yes, it is sad that I get excited over household cleaning products.  This is what happens when you're in your late twenties and start accumulating pet cats: the little things in life become very exciting.  So, my love of Christmas and my love of Method are combined in one neat package with Method's holiday collection.  I can decorate with hand soap!!

3. Mad Elf Beer.  I love this beer.  It's malty and fruity and 11% alcohol.  Seriously, if you are the DD do not drink one of these.

4. Cool Xmas Wrapping.  I love wrapping Christmas gifts.  I think it might be a result of my OCD need to make things coordinate.  I HAVE to wrap all my presents in the same paper or at least in paper that coordinates.  I also love the idea of embellishing plain gift wrap with little touches.  This year I think I am going to use the brown wrapping you used to use to cover your books and either glue doilies on it or embossed stamps.  I'll let you know how badly I screw that one up (see next fav thing).

5. Xmas DIY Projects that I Can F-Up.  I always have very high hopes for my crafting abilities, misplaced hopes.  I am not crafty.  I'm good at taking other people's work and putting it together other people's work (into outfits or a decorated room).  Despite my lack of talent, I try every year to summon some sort of magical craft prowess and usually wind up frustrated and covered in hot glue.

There is a chance I can master this ornament wreath.  All it takes is a wire hanger, hot glue, a big ribbon, and some cheap Christmas balls.  Here's the tutorial.

5. Holiday Party Dresses.  I love an excuse to wear sparkly dresses and the holidays are the perfect occasion.  I am a bit disappointed in Anthro's selection of fun holiday dresses this year.  The only one I can foresee purchasing is the Dulcie Dress.  Here's how I would style it for a holiday party.  I do actually have 2 holiday parties to attend next weekend.
