Weekend Update: The Runway at TJ Maxx

This weekend I had a little free time to myself.  So, what did I do?  I went shopping.  I popped into TJ Maxx.  The TJ Maxx near me recently started a Runway department.  TJ Maxx's The Runway features more high-end designers than normal, like Prada, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch and (my favorite) Rebecca Taylor.  The prices aren't that great.  $130 for a Rebecca Taylor dress, and Gucci dresses are still marked at $600.  I think Bloomingdale's has better clearance prices.

Here are some of my favorite finds in The Runway department.  I'm going to stalk these items and wait until they hit clearance.  Please note, the OOTD I included with this post has NOTHING to do with TJ Maxx or high fashion.  I just really liked this outfit.

When I was a kid I loved bubble gum ice cream.  LOVED IT.  It might have just been because it was pink.  My love affair ended one bleak summer night.  I was eating my favorite treat, gathering pieces of gum to chew later.  When I finally got to dig into the pile of little colored pieces of gum, I coughed, sending a wad of sticky gum into my long sun-drenched locks.  I spent the next hour having every home remedy of gum-hair separation being used on me.  Guess what, neither ice nor peanut butter works...only scissors.  Now I just dress like a bowl full bubblegum ice cream.

July Glam Bag

If you don't know what a Glam Bag is, start here.

The July Glam Bag was by far my favorite thus far.  I've heard mixed reviews from other bloggers.  Some hated it, some were indifferent and some loved it.  This month's theme was "Beach Beauty."  I don't really know what nail polish and lip gloss have to do with looking good at the beach, but I will never turn down polish and gloss.

1. Circus by Andrea's Choice - I love this bright yellow color called Somersault.  It comes in this adorable little box (I'm a sucker for cute packaging) and goes on smooth.  However, to achieve the bright yellow, you need 3 coats.  I think it's the perfect summer color for your toes or an accent nail.  Wouldn't it look good with coral??

2. Juice Beauty Green Apple Moisturizer - There is no way that this smells like green apple, more like lemon pledge.  It's a little heavier than any moisturizer I use, but it does have the SPF, which my pasty face needs during the summer.  This definitely won't be my everyday moisturizer, but I think it'll be good for a day in the sun.

3. Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish - Buxom is hands down my favorite lip gloss.  I can't say enough great things about it.  It's smooth, not sticky and comes in a bunch of colors.  I also like that it tingles a bit when you put it on.  It's supposed to plump your lips, but I just think it's soothing on dry lips.  Also, after the Glam Bag arrived I got an email with a code for a free Buxom mascara with any online Sephora purchase.  I used that bad boy right away.

4. NuMe Hydro Punch Conditioner - This stuff is for colored or dry hair, neither of which applies to me.  I'll be giving this to my mom to use on her colored tresses.

5. Yes to Cucumbers One the Go Facial Towelettes - I haven't tried these because I didn't want to open the package.  I want to save them for traveling.  These towelettes are not only supposed to remove makeup, but also soothe sun drenched skin.

With the exception of the conditioner, I will be using these products.  Keep the awesome Glam Bags coming!

My Target Mantra

You've probably noticed a few changes around this little blog.  I've been brainstorming this change for weeks and finally got to it last night....at 11:30pm.  I'll probably be making some more changes in the coming days.  I just can't decide if I want a 2 column or 3 column layout.  I know, life is tough.  I'd love your feedback on the new layout and any suggestions.

Yeah, I was making my clothing purchase decision in the cat food aisle.  It's usually where I can be found in Target.  Don't judge.

Weekend Update: Thriftin' and Relaxin'

For casual Friday, I revived my mint jeans.  They're a little tie-dyed because all the dye ran after the first washing, but I am calling them "distressed."  And I semi-copied this outfit from the other Tara at Mix and Match Fashion.

And of course this weekend Apollo had to be a dick while I was cleaning out my closet and sit on my summer hat.

Oh, and I finally know who killed Rosie Larsen, so now I can move on with my life.

Today is the last day to enter my giveaway!

As I may have mentioned, I am travelling to Scotland in September.  So, this week's Friday's Fancies theme, Euro Trip, got me thinking about packing.  I hate packing.  I always overpack and then somehow wind up with nothing to wear.  This time will be different.  I am going to bring versatile items that I can wear several times and remix.  I will NOT bring a pair of clunky pumps I will only wear for a few minutes.
