Look What I Got: Twirly Skirt and Pink Purse

I have the twirliest of twirly skirts and the pinkest of pink bags ever on here today.  I could not love this outfit more.  I feel like the theme is sexy cotton candy.

Shirt: Michael Kors via TJ Maxx (worn) | Skirt: Asos (similar) | Purse: c/o DressV (very similar) |
Shoes: Nine West | Necklace: Banana Republic (worn, similar) | Fox Bracelet: c/o JeweShop (exact) |
Pave Link Bracelet: Groopdealz (worn, similar)

And I could not be happier with all of the pieces in this outfit.  I ordered the skirt, fox bracelet and purse online.  I am sometimes weary of ordering online because of sizing and quality.  I've ordered clothing that looked like high quality silk online and arrived looking more like crumpled paper.  However, this skirt?  Perfection!  It's a petite size, so it hits my legs just right.  The fabric is a bit thicker than you would expect given the twirly appearance, so it hides all the bumps and lumps.  That pink purse?  It's the perfect shade of pepto-bubblegum delight!  And lastly...that little fox bracelet.  Ignore the ridiculous name of the shop.  Jeweshop knows what it's doing with jewelry!  This bracelet fits my petite wrist perfectly and is super high quality.  I've been wearing it nonstop and it hasn't tarnished yet like some jewels from lower quality stores.  (I'm looking at you Forever 21).
Full Disclosure: Pieces of this outfit were gifted to me in exchange for this post.  However, all opinions are 100% mine and I styled the items myself.

Stuff I Wore: Cranky and Cold

Vest // Old Navy (giveaway win from City and Burbs)
Belt// From A Target skirt (worn here) | Shirt // Thrifted | Cords // J. Crew (similar here)
Flats // Jessica Simpson (worn here, similar here) | Bag // Juicy Couture (worn here, similar here)
Necklaces // J. Crew Factory (worn here and here, similar here and here)

This week's Friday's Fancies theme is "Sweater Weather," which is perfectly timed because I don't have heat or hot water after Hurricane Sandy.  So, it's actually sweatshirt and blanket weather inside my apartment.  And the water pressure is so low that I can't get the shower to work.  I washed my hair in the kitchen sink and I will spare you the details about how I bathed my body.
And  now you're wondering, "Why couldn't you put on a sweater for this week's theme?"  Well, I am currently wearing several sweaters, but no pictures will be taken of me until I can take a proper shower.  Thankfully, I have some fingerless gloves so that I can type this.  I am cold and cranky.  Luckily, I saved some outfit photos for just such an occasion.
Don't let my humor fool you, I know I am lucky to have made it out of this storm relatively unscathed.  If you want to help, donate to the Red Cross here.

Friday's Fancies: Sassy Business Lady

Have you entered my bubble necklace giveaway?  What? You don't like free stuff?

Blazer // Forever 21 (similar here); Skirt // Simply Vera for Kohl's (similar here); Shoes // Old Navy (worn here, similar here); Sunnies // Betsey Johnson via TJ Maxx (similar here); Vintage Style V-Neck Tee // Old Navy

I feel like a sassy business lady in this pink blazer.  It's the look I go for everyday.  I think the t-shirt only adds to the sassiness of this outfit.  The t-shirt says, "I will not be constrained by your conventions about business casual wear!!"  All I need to do is throw my heels in my purse and get out my sneakers and slouch socks to go strutting around on my lunch break.  And then I'll twirl around and throw my hat in the air.  Wait, wrong decade.  Am I more Dynasty or Mary Tyler Moore?

Friday's Fancies: Bubblegum Ice Cream

**Check out my shop, new (lightly worn) clothes added!

The Scot really liked this picture.  I'm not sure why.  It really looks like I'm scolding him.
Melon Ball Dress // Anthropologie (worn here, similar here)
Rainy Day Ballet Flats // J. Crew (worn here, similar here)
Cropped Cardigan // White House Black Market (worn here, similar here)

Friday's Fancie's Bubblegum Pink

When I was a kid I loved bubble gum ice cream.  LOVED IT.  It might have just been because it was pink.  My love affair ended one bleak summer night.  I was eating my favorite treat, gathering pieces of gum to chew later.  When I finally got to dig into the pile of little colored pieces of gum, I coughed, sending a wad of sticky gum into my long sun-drenched locks.  I spent the next hour having every home remedy of gum-hair separation being used on me.  Guess what, neither ice nor peanut butter works...only scissors.  Now I just dress like a bowl full bubblegum ice cream.

And if you were wondering, yeah I colorblocked at the office.  And not just any old colorblocking, NEON color blocking.
I broke one of my cardinal office wear rules and wore flip flops to the office.  I know, I know.  I am a rebel, but I am ashamed.  My second office wear rule is NO LEGGINGS.  Please ladies, heed my cries.  Leggings have no place in the business casual office, or in a doctor's office, or in court.
Ok, back on track with my flip flop faux pas.  I don't normally recommend wearing flip flops to the office, but it was 95 degrees!!  And I forgot to change shoes after I took the dog for a walk.  It's a good thing I remembered to bring the dog back inside before leaving for work.

Shoesday: Crazy Feet?

It's no secret that I love an adorable, whimsical print (sometimes animal, sometimes not).  Here's the evidence:
Cats (seen here); Keys (seen here); Snails (seen here); Birds (seen here)
However, I am a bit on the fence about these crazy animal shoes.  Are they quirky and adorable or crazy cat lady living in Boca?

Crazy Shoes

Cheetah Shoes, $34
Fruit Shoes, $34
Flamingo Shoes, $34
Geese Shoes, $34

Well, buy me a purple Vespa and send me to Boca with an army of cats.

Stuff I Wore: Weekend Update

I copied this outfit from Annie of The Other Side of Gray because I had no idea how to wear this necklace.
Top // Banana Republic (similar here); AG Stevie Ankles // Anthropologie (worn here); Chunky Pemota Pumps // Target (worn here, similar here); Bracelet // Target (worn here, similar here); Necklace // Target (similar here)
I think my weekends are getting a little monotonous.  I started it out the same as always with a casual Friday (see above) and then I ate various kinds of chips covered in cheese and drank some beer.  No, I kid you not, I ate nachos and drank beer on Saturday AND Sunday.  I might need an intervention to deal with my cheese and beer addiction.  I will be hitting the gym HARD this week.
The weekend started off pretty good.  Friday night a miracle happened...I MADE IT TO HAPPY HOUR.  I was out of work before happy hour specials ended.  Happy hour is a ritual I had almost forgotten about.
However, Saturday I got back  into my normal weekend routine and partook in my favorite activity: over eating with Elena.  I tried a Sea Dog Wild Blueberry beer and it was pretty awesome.  It was smooth with a hint of fruitiness without tasting like a grape soda.

I washed that beer down with a food brought to us straight from the gods: potachos.  It's nachos made with potato chips.  Yes, you read that correctly...potato chips.

After Father's Day activities, I got home early enough to get back into my beer and cheese routine.  I tried out a limited release beer from Blue Moon: Agave Blonde Ale.  I found it to be mediocre at best.  It really just tasted like a sweet crappy pilsner.

But then we had nachos for dinner.  I'm really glad my mom doesn't read this.  She would be so disappointed.
