This week for Friday's Fancies, we had to copy an outfit. I will be honest, I would have never in a million bajillion years paired neon yellow with pale pink. I can only take about 10% of the credit for the brilliance that is this outfit. I totally copied this outfit from The Pink Peonies that I found on Pinterest, except I used much cheaper items.
Pinterest evokes so many emotions in me: anger towards those people that have these perfectly organized homes, while I have piles of clothes on the bedroom floor and piles of dog hair accumulating in ever corner, jealousy towards those girls that can take a $5 t-shirt and make it look like a $1,000, and rage towards those people that can turn pipe cleaners into a work of art without burning off their fingerprints with hot glue.  Yet, I keep going back for more punishment.  It also evokes an intense desire to shop.

Oh how Pinteresting: Bedroom Revision

I'm changing up my Wednesday link up.  This week I am participating in Oh How Pinteresting and linking up with the Vintage Apple.  I like to keep things interesting.
I was supposed to join the Trend of the Month Challenge at Marionberry Style and wear some neon, but I just could not get my sh*t together this week.  But apparently, I still had time to waste on Pinterest.  So, go check out the fun neon outfits over there.

This week, I pinned the hell out of ideas for the bedroom...design and decorating ideas.  Get your minds out of the gutter!  I want to make a couple small changes to the bedroom to spruce it up.  I have a green accent wall in my bedroom and dark furniture, so I went from there and pinned away...

I love the idea of a round mirror over the bed.

And I love this chandelier, but I don't think my landlord wants me swapping out the light fixtures

I want a storage bench or trunk at the end of the bed.

I am determined to find cheap knockoffs of these lamps.  Target has some for around $50 each , but that's still a little steep.

I need some better jewelry storage.  Maybe a two-tiered dessert stand?

And something like this for earrings?

Stuff I Wore: The Outfit that Saved the World (OOTD 1.6.12)

**Please note that I am typing this post with sight in only one eye because I have a ZIT ON MY EYE LID!!  How does that happen?!  It is surprisingly painful and The Scot says the only way to get rid of it is to hold a warm wet washcloth over my eye several times a day.  So, yes, I am wearing a washcloth eye patch right now.  Sorry for any typing mistakes as I have no depth perception at the moment.

January 6, 2012 will forever be known as the day I accidentally dressed like a super hero.  Awhile ago I was inspired by Pinterest to try mustard tights with a navy dress.  I was waiting until I found a navy dress.  I finally found one a few weeks ago at Marshall's for only $10!

However, I was not as happy with the outfit as I had hoped.  I guess they all can't be winners!  I went out Friday night with a friend and replaced the yellow tights with black and added a brown belt.

Inspired by Pinterest: Christmas Crafts and Hot Glue Burns

I was inspired after seeing about a dozen different pins on pinterest about ornament wreaths.  Here's one example.  I figured, how hard can it be?  I can totally hot glue a bunch of ornaments to a foam wreath.  And one hour and 10 hot glue singed fingers later, I had a gorgeous wreath.  Here's how I did it.

1. Collect as many ornaments as you can find in varying sizes.  I went to the Christmas Tree Shop, dollar store and the craft store.  I removed all the metal hangers from my ornaments, but you can leave them on if you want them to be part of your design.  

2. I started with a foam wreath from the craft store (find in the floral section).  I forgot a step, which I recommend including.  Wrap your foam wreath in tinsel garland or pretty colored ribbon because you will be able to see the wreath through the piles of ornaments.  

3. I then hot glued the biggest ornaments in an even pattern around the outside and then glued the medium sized ornaments on the inside (see figure 1).  I crammed the round tip of the ornament a little bit into the foam.

4. I then just went crazy gluing ornaments all over the wreath until I would up with figure 3.  Not all of the ornaments actually touch the foam wreath.

I could not believe I completed a Christmas craft with almost no casualties.  On a side note, I am free to commit as many crimes as I want because the hot glue burns I sustained burned off my fingerprints.  

And then it all came crashing down....literally.  A few days after completing the wreath, the hook on which it hung SNAPPED IN HALF and the wreath came crashing down to the floor.  And I should mention that this happened in the middle of the night, so I was sweeping up broken glass ornaments at about 2 am...while the cats attempted to play in the shards.

Stuff I Wore: No. 2 Pencil Skirt Styled by Pinterest

I have such a backlog of outfits! Because I am waiting so long to post my outfits, I don't even have a clever story about them. If I can barely remember what I had for dinner tonight, I can not possible remember what I did last Wednesday. Wait, no I probably can...I went to work, came home and sat on the couch with my cats catching up on DVR'ed TV. Yes, I am very sophisticated and exciting.
I was so inspired by Pinterest the other day, I had to make my own version of the outfit.
And I've started messing around with some photo editing programs.  Can you tell?  Nope.  I am eagerly awaiting my Christmas bonus so that I can invest in a new camera.

Inspired by Pinterest: Navy and Mustard (give me more!)

Have I mentioned how much I love the combination of mustard and navy?  If you haven't realized that yet, this picture should cement my love of the combo in your mind.  I never thought about incorporating mustard with the tights.  I always thought colored tights looked a bit clownish, until I saw this masterpiece.

Inspired by Pinterest: Forever 21 Calf length striped skirt

I've been looking for a way to wear my new Forever 21 calf length striped skirt and Pinterest came through for me.  The skirt is only available in blue online, but they have it in tan in the stores.

I couldn't find a cardigan (for a decent price) with the sequined embellishments, so I added a brooch.  And I could only find a picture of the blue version of the Forever 21 skirt, so I used a pricier Nordstrom version in the set.  I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this though.
