Stuff I Wore: Mmmmm....sherbert

Stay tuned later today for Shoesday!

This morning when I woke up I thought, "Gee, I want to dress like a delicious dessert item."  No, this was actually an accident and I didn't realize that I dressed like a bowl of sherbert until later.  Well, I love it.  I loved this outfit so much that I even took a bad mirror picture of it.  Yeah, the Scot left for work early the day I wore this fabulous outfit.  How dare he!  I couldn't deprive you of this fabulousness.
No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Plum // J. Crew // worn here, similar here
Tights, Belt, and Shoes // Target // Similar Shoes
Shirt // Banana Republic // Similar (pricey) here
Necklace // Anthropologie

Betsey Johnson Orange Hippo Face Earrings
You can find them at Macy's , but I got them for $15 using some credit card rewards points!

And this was my final day of my Use it or Lose it Challenge.  That sherbert-y dress shirt was item 9 of 10.  It's always good to have a few button downs in your closet.
So far I've gotten rid of a 2 horribly uncomfortable pairs of shoes, an impractical shirt, and some ill fitting items.  I've also rediscovered a sweater dress and a color blocked shirt.  item #10 was a poorly fitting skirt that will NOT be shown on the blog.  This challenge really cleaned out my closet...and made room for more purchases!

Stuff I Wore: Have We Met?

Yes, that shirt has cats on it.  The Scot asked if those were cats on my shirt and I simply replied, "Have we met?"  I am a self proclaimed crazy cat lady.  I just thought maybe I should start wearing more badges of my self-bestowed honor.
This shirt also comes in red with a dog print.  I had to exercise a lot of restraint to not purchase the dog printed shirt as well.

Pencil Skirt // Target, worn here, similar here
Shoes // Steve Madden

And I think this was day 25 of my Use it Or Lose it Challenge.  The shoes were item 8 of 10.  And after I almost slid to death on my kitchen floor, these shoes have now been donated to Soles for Souls, which is collecting shoes for families affected by Hurricane Irene.
So far I've gotten rid of a horribly uncomfortable pair of shoes, an impractical shirt, and some ill fitting items.  I've also rediscovered a sweater dress and a color blocked shirt.  This challenge is really helping me clean out my closet.  I am definitely doing this every season.

Stuff I Wore: Use It or Lose It Day #5

Similar cardigan
Boots here, worn here and here
Similar tank here and here
I haven't worn this tank in forever and I think it's just a product of having to  much stuff in a poorly lit closet.  This beauty was crammed all the way in the back, lost and forgotten.  I really love the colors and the fabric is really good quality.  Kohl's really does a great job with their designer lines. (i.e. Lauren Conrad)  I've put it back to the front and plan on pairing it with some leggings soon.

As a recap, this is the fourth item of the ten.  First, I got rid of the tortuous brown shoes.  Second, I kept the comfy sweater dress.  Third, I tossed the weird bow shirt.

And then I got rid of items five, six and seven.  The gray Levi's jeans and button front pencil skirt are just waaaay too tight on me.  The Levis are a few years old and in that time I've gotten too old for low rise jeans.  Seriously, when did I think it was OK to have my butt crack hanging out!?!?  That gorgeous printed shirt is from White House Black Market.  Sadly, it gives me under arm boob and the halter strings threaten to choke me.  So, in this post, I got rid of clothes that give me extra lumps where they don't belong.

Stuff I Wore: Use It or Lose It Day #4 (OOTD 1.19.12)

NOTE: TONS of my pictures have disappeared from the blog.  I am going to work to get them back up.  I wonder what happened?

Gasp, I wore pants one day.  For any one that's new, I don't go bottomless everyday to work.  I wear skirts and dresses.  I just wanted to clear that up before any new comers decided to stop reading the blog of some pants-less wonder.  Yes, there are days when I get out of the shower and contemplate just wearing my towel to work, but I have yet to follow through on it.  I also find that I can't shoe case my shoes as well in pants.  The pants cast dark shadow over the shoes that I just can't seem to edit out of mirror pictures.
Enough about my problems with pants.  I hadn't worn this gorgeous top from Banana Republic in a really long time.  It fits great and I love the necklace print on the front.  It's like a built in accessory.
Pants worn here, similar here.
Ring worn here, similar here; pricey here.

However, the shirt has another built in accessory that makes it difficult to wear: this weird back of the neck bow.  I looked like a hunchback when I put my cardigan on.  And I can't go sleeveless in the office for several reasons.  The main one being that my office appears to be sitting on top of some sort of Arctic stream of air.  The entire office is a pleasant 70 degrees, while my tundra of an office is 60 degrees.  Perhaps it's a vortex of paranormal activity?

Well, this shirt is sadly going to the consignment shop because it's just not practical.  And every time I tried to tie the bow I tied a little hair into it.  I had to have the Scot tie it for me.  I really don't like clothing that takes a group effort.  I'm an adult.  I like to get dressed on my own nowadays.

As a recap, this is the third item of the ten.  First, I got rid of the tortuous brown shoes.  Second, I kept the comfy sweater dress.

Use It or Lose It: Day #1 (OOTD 1.16.12)

Contrary to my posts lately, I have been active in my Use it or Lose It Challenge.  My first item was this sweater dress.  I have no recollection of where I got this and I also have no recollection of why I stopped wearing it.  It's so comfy, like wearing pajamas to work.  Seriously, everyone go out and buy a sweater dress.  It's like no one even knew I woke up late and was barely functional when I got dressed.  Oh wait...I think my lack of color gives away my delirious state.  Seriously?!?!  I left the house in only gray and black?  Who am I?!  I really needed to snazz it up with some color.  Maybe some colored tights and some bangles.  As of Day#1, I did not lose any clothes, but that changed soon after.  More posts to come!

Stuff I Wore: Stroke of Genius (OOTD 1.11.12)

This outfit inspired me to try something.  I hadn't worn these shoes in awhile and I wondered why.  And after a day of wearing them, I realized why they were banished to the back of my closet...they are instruments of pain.  Because I do not want to inflict this kind of pain on any other human being, they went directly in the garbage.  I know it's a waste, but seriously, you would be better off walking around barefoot.

And thus, I decided to start the Use it or Lose it Challenge.  The gist of it, is that you pick out some items from your closet that you haven't worn in awhile and you get 30 days to wear them or you get rid of them.

I've picked my 10 items and will feature them here over the next month, and then update you on what I kept and what got a one way ticket to the consignment shop.

And yet another bird print in my collection.

These shoes bypassed the consignment shop and went right in the trash.
They're cute, but deadly.  Don't be fooled.
