The Scot's parents have been visiting for the past 10 days, so life has been a little hectic. Now that they have safely boarded a plane back to the mother land, I can return to my normal sedentary life. However, I am happy that I have so many adventures to share with you! We first whisked the Scot's parents away to Niagara Falls. After an 8 hour car journey (that included over an hour wait in line at the border), we got them safely into Canada. The Canadian border officials were very friendly...however, we seemed to get in a line in which every single car was full of fireworks. Seriously, are American fireworks different than Canadian ones? They were looking in trunk after trunk, slowing down the line. However, you know what whizzed right through the border? A pick-up truck with a rusty shed in the back. So, that rusty shed couldn't have been full of fireworks? We theorized that the driver was Jimmy of Jimmy's Shed Shack, Canada's #1 importer of sheds. "Just one shed today Jimmy? Ok...see you tomorrow." And yes, I realize I took a picture on a random street in Niagara Falls and did not even include a picture of the Falls. You'll get to see a whole lot of that tomorrow. Today, it's just some neon paired with turquoise. I was really proud of this color combo that I came up with. If I Were 17 Again and a GIVEAWAY!

As I was cruising around Kohl's on my lunch break the other day, I spotted Vera Wang's new teen line: Vera Wang Princess. When I spotted a sweatshirt with a tutu attached, I thought, "If I were 17 I would wear the SH*T out of that!" Sadly, I am waaaay past my teenage years and have been told tutus are not business casual attire. When the hell is it going to be appropriate for a grown ass woman to wear a tutu?!?!

Stuff I Wore: Date Night

You know how girls like to wear cute, un-sensible shoes on dates? The Scot really hates my tall shoes. He claims it has nothing to do with me being taller than him in shoes. So, my fancy shoes are saved for my date nights with Elena. Or sometimes I just put them on to prance around her apartment.

I can see the top of the fridge when I wear these shoes. I really need to clean on top of the fridge.

That two-fingered ring REALLY hinders my ability to flip people off.

When I don't put on a special outfit for prancing, my date outfits have to also be work appropriate with a few modifications. The fancy shoes do not come to work because I would probably fall on my face halfway through the day ~~running around to get chocolate from the vending machine~~ filing important legal documents. So, here is my dream day to date outfit. Once that blazer comes off and those red shoes go on...it's time to party!

Stuff I Wore: Use It or Lose It Day #5

I haven't worn this tank in forever and I think it's just a product of having to much stuff in a poorly lit closet. This beauty was crammed all the way in the back, lost and forgotten. I really love the colors and the fabric is really good quality. Kohl's really does a great job with their designer lines. (i.e. Lauren Conrad) I've put it back to the front and plan on pairing it with some leggings soon.

As a recap, this is the fourth item of the ten. First, I got rid of the tortuous brown shoes. Second, I kept the comfy sweater dress. Third, I tossed the weird bow shirt.

And then I got rid of items five, six and seven. The gray Levi's jeans and button front pencil skirt are just waaaay too tight on me. The Levis are a few years old and in that time I've gotten too old for low rise jeans. Seriously, when did I think it was OK to have my butt crack hanging out!?!? That gorgeous printed shirt is from White House Black Market. Sadly, it gives me under arm boob and the halter strings threaten to choke me. So, in this post, I got rid of clothes that give me extra lumps where they don't belong.

Stuff I Wore: Sew Talented (OOTD 1.9.12)

One of the benefits of shopping at nicer stores like J. Crew and Anthro is the service. I had a particularly positive interaction with a J. Crew associate a few weeks ago.

I originally started the day off in these adorable Coach flats. They're a few years old and I was perplexed as to why I hadn't worn them in awhile. Around lunch time I figured out why; the top of the shoes dig painfully into my feet. So, off to the consignment shop they went.

I had been eyeing this skirt for awhile at J. Crew. So when it went on sale (plus an extra 30% off) I snatched it right up. Unfortunately, I realized that the top button was hanging on by a thread. I mentioned it to a store associate, but they didn't have any more in my size. I figured, for the price, it was worth it to sew the button back on myself. The store associate was nice enough to give me an additional 15% off on top of the already HUGE discount. I think she gave me the student discount. So, I got this skirt for $30 thanks to a sweet store associate.

Stuff I Wore: A Warm Winter's Day (OOTD 1.7.12)

As I look at the snow piling up outside my window, I yearn for the sunny 50 degree day 2 weeks ago. ("Piling" might be an exaggeration. We have about 2-3 inches on the ground now).

I wore my beloved Noon and Night Dress to the annual holiday party with my group of college friends. Yes, we are still celebrating the holidays well into January. We're all incredibly awesome and busy ladies, so life gets in the way of partying some times. Our parties mostly consist of us eating and drinking too much. You should see the spread that we have at our parties. It's pretty impressive. In our group, some of us are good cooks and some of us are just good food shoppers. I am the latter.

The Noon and Night Dress is definitely one of my favorite purchases. And it seems to be a crowd pleaser as well. When I was getting ready for the party, I texted my bestie Elena to ask her what I should wear. her response? Noon and Night! At the party, my friend Tiff kept touching the skirt of the dress and saying, "it feels like a tapestry." Yeah, that's a compliment. We're weird like that.
