Daytime Sequins and Chambray

Sequins and Chambray (2) Sequins and Chambray (3) Sequins and Chambray (1)
I am a big supporter and advocate of sequins.  However, it's pretty difficult to incorporate into a daytime outfit.  I said difficult...not impossible.  I am willing to test drive a few sequin adorned daytime look for my craft.  And I think my first attempt went pretty well.  I utilized an old blogger trick.  When all else fails...add chambray.  I threw in some booties, a tee, and a cross body bag to dress down the sequins.  I may have gone a little too heavy with the jewelry.  But, I just can't helo myself.

Tweed and Kushy Foot

IMG_1131 IMG_1143 IMG_1144 IMG_1138 IMG_1145

During the fall and winter (and now a cold beginning to spring), I am in tights all day long.  When I'm wearing a bad pair, I am spending a good portion of my day doing a sly shuffle to pull up sagigng tights or unroll a bunched up waistband.  So, I am always on the look out for a good pair of tights.  And I have found them....Kushyfoot.  But, Kushyfoot tights are so much more.  Not only do they have comfy shaping tights, but their tights come complete with massaging soles!  (hence the name Kushyfoot).  Not only do I not get saggy crotch in these tights, but my feet are also pretty comfy!

Double Denim

IMG_0671 IMG_0673 IMG_0668 IMG_0674 IMG_0679

Here is my Canadian tuxedo.  I was a bit afraid of this trend.  I feared looking out of date and a little silly.  So, I added a faux fur vest and a hat.  I guess bows and faux fur make me feel less silly somehow.

Chambray and Cats

Chambray cats Chambray cats 4 Chambray cats 3 Chambray cats 2

When I put on this outfit a few weeks ago, my sister commented: "Huh, that makes you look skinny."  That's pretty much the nicest thing she'll ever say about my clothing.  Unless it's a J. Crew button down and khakis, she hates it.  So, the fact that she was able to restrain herself from gagging at hte sight of a cat print means a lot to me.  Ah...sisterly love.

Remember that time when I blogged on a regular basis?  Yeah...either.  But, do not worry.  A great tragedy has not befallen me.  I am just super duper busy at work.  I swear, people are just suing each other like crazy to get it out of their systems before they go on vacation.  The Scot is pretty happy about my busy work schedule because it leaves him time to watch the World Cup and not be bothered taking outfit photos.  I feel as though he may be out of practice by the time I start making him take up his photography duties again.  I should make him practice taking photos of the cat each day.
Anyways, on to more pressing matters, like this dress.  Can you even believe I almost got rid of this dress? I almost offered it up for sale on Instagram.  However, a vision came to me.  A vision of floral and chambray happily mingling together.  And then I decided to keep it.  I think it was a good decision.

Spring has sprung!  Finally!  And then immediately the spring rains started...as soon as the Scot took out the camera to take these shots.  So, I guess it was appropriate that I was wearing my new rainbow colored necklace from Uncommon Goods.  Uncommon goods is definitely worth a look.  They're a great company that makes great products.  Uncommon Goods brings you tons of great jewelry and other assorted household items, right from their little warehouse in Brooklyn New York.  Ok, I am sure it's not a little warehouse judging by how vast their collection of goodies is.  A good portion of their jewelry is made of recycled and upcycled materials and an even greater portion is made right here in the United States, creating a platform for local artists to share their work with the world.  My necklace isn't recycled or upcycled, but it's still pretty cool.  It's made from Tagua, more commonly known as vegetable ivory.  It's made from crushed seeds and mimics the look and feel of ivory, thereby curbing the illegal ivory trade.  A portion of each sale goes to support a non-profit, that you get to choose at checkout!  Uncommon Goods has a ton of great items....even some great Mother's Day gifts for you procrastinators. (find some here and here).

Full Disclosure: This necklace was provided to me free of charge for review purposes.  I did not receive any thing else in return for this post and all opinions are 100% mine.

I am pretty sure I have bird flu.  What else could explain my continuously runny nose and sore throat.  Definitely bird flu.  I've considered cramming tampons in my nostrils in order to stop the flow, but that doesn't seem like an office-appropriate look.  So, I just have to resort to gold old fashioned tissues.  However, a bright red chapped nose is also not a good look.
Oh, you were expecting me to talk about my outfit because this is a fashion blog?  Well, I am sick and super whiney...and the Scot has heard enough whines from me for the week.  So, you get my whines.  This skirt does match the current color of my nose.  Look, I brought it back around to fashion.

Gold Tap Shoes

I made a poor shoe choice after a small snow storm.  My choice was poor because the soles on these shoes have as much traction as tap shoes.  But, they're gold and I was wearing a plaid skirt....it all made sense in my head at the time.  Everything made sense until I slipped and fell...twice.  Lesson learned, as soon as I could I changed into rubber soled boots.  I was 100% safer on the ice, but about 50% less adorable.

Geek Sweater and Rhinestones

Sweater: TJ Maxx (similar) | Jeans: Old Navy (exact) |
Necklace: c/o Style Lately (worn, similar) | Shoes: TOMS (worn, similar) |

Rhinestone Geek 6

Rhinestone Geek 7

What do you do when you walk into TJ Maxx and you see a sweater emblazoned with the word "Geek"?  You buy it and then create the perfect Fall outfit with chambray and rhinestones.  The only thing that can make this outfit better is a pair of booties.  However, sometimes I have to think about more practical things, like not getting giant blisters while walking up the hills of San Francisco.

What is another thing you do when you walk into TJ Maxx and you see a sweater emblazoned with the word "Geek"?  You buy your sister a matching sweater that says "Genius" and you order your Christmas cards.
