I usually try to be honest with my outfit posts.  Although this is what I want to wear this Labor Day, I am not sure if this will come to fruition.  This weekend is devoted to par-taying it up with my sister, which usually necessitates a more casual outfit.

This is my last weekend with my sister before she moves to San Francisco.  I haven't quite processed it yet that she is moving clear across the country.  So, I will be sending her off in style with a day of drinking and then dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings for her final goodbye beers.  I don't know why we like Buffalo Wild Wings so much, but I pretty much pay the rent at the one near my apartment.  Maybe it's an atmosphere where we can drink as much as we want and burp as loud as we want without feelings judged.  Maybe it's the fact that there are 9,000 TV's playing every sporting event imaginable.  I don't know, but that place has a certain something about it.  And, as a vegetarian, I don't even eat wings.  They do have hot pretzels and I do love my carbs smothered in 3 sauces of my choosing.
However, as this is the last weekend of summer, I need to make the most of my time with my sister and my beloved summer dresses.

Update on the Runway at TJ Maxx

Since I found out that my local TJ Maxx has a Runway department, featuring high-end designers like Rebecca Taylor, Marc Jacobs and Kate Spade, I have been stalking the store hoping that items would go on sale.  (read my last post about it HERE)  Finally, some items have started moving to the sale racks.  However, none of my coveted Rebecca Taylor pieces are on sale.

This weekend I met up with Kym of Bitty and Bunny, Sharon of The Tiny Heart, and Cat and Di of City and Burbs in NYC (and up there is what I wore).  The Scot put me on a train out of NJ and then Sharon met me in Penn Station, so there was little chance I was going to screw this up.  My brain turns to mush once I enter the city and I can not navigate myself around.  However, Sharon held my hand on the subway and guided me to our destination in one piece.  We had a lovely lunch and never stopped talking!  I didn't feel like there was an awkward moment at all!  (and I've created a lot of awkward moments in my day).  Then, Sharon and I hit up the giant H&M and Forever 21 on our way back to the train.  Duh, of course we wanted to do a little shopping.
So, not only did I make it into the city all by myself like a big girl, but it only took me a few minutes to pick out my outfit that morning.  It was a weekend of accomplishments!

Friday's Fancies: On the Road Again (and an Anthro Review)

I even try to look fabulous when I'm travelling, whether by plane, train or automobile.  I've come a long way from my college days when I thought that pajama pants were appropriate to be worn outside of my bedroom.  I still yearn for the comfort of my jammies when I'm crammed in a car or on a plane for awhile, but I still want to look good when I get to my destination.  Because if I'm traveling, it means there is a vacation waiting for me at the end and I want to get to the partying ASAP.  

Friday's Fancies: Road Trip by veggielawyer 

Tara's tips for traveling fabulously:
1. Pick a comfy centerpiece for your outfit.  Whether it's jeans or a dress, make sure it doesn't wrinkle.   I went with Anthropologie's Feline Karma Dress.
Yeah, I tried the dress on last weekend at Anthro and fell in love:

Mini Review: I love the material of this dress.  It's like a soft canvas, so it doesn't wrinkle, but has great structure.  The dress looks A LOT shorter on the hanger.  It hit me at about the knee and I'm 5'3".  The top fit a little loose in the 8, so I would size down to a 6 for purchase.  I think the top has enough coverage even for busty gals.  AND IT HAS POCKETS!!  I am going to wait another 2 weeks for it to hit sale and then I am buying no matter what.

2. If you  go with a dress, wear some leggings.  You won't have any of those embarrassing crotch moments exiting the car made famous by Lindsey Lohan and you won't have to sit lady-like on a long plane ride.

3. Layers!  It's amazing how much your body temperature fluctuates on the car.  (and I am always FREEZING on a plane).  J. Crew's Jackie Cardigans are perfect for layering.

4. Comfy shoes, like my Steve Madden boots, are a must!  I like to travel in boots because I can easily cover up my embarrassing travel socks (see #5).  I never travel in flip flops because my feet get cold in the car and on a plane and I'm afraid of getting my toes squished in a crowd at the airport.

5. Cozy socks keep my feet warm in an air conditioned car or on a cold plane of recycled air.  I always travel with goofy socks.

6. Don't forget the snacks!

And when you reach your destination, you need to be ready to PARTY!!

7.  Swap out your comfy layers for a fun blazer.  I like this SheInside blazer because it's the perfect shade of pale pink and has an interesting silhouette.

8. A statement necklace and earrings provide a quick transformation from travel to glam.  I picked out some goodies from Bauble Bar for my transformation: Gold Crystal Mix Necklace and Beryl Bubble Drop Earrings.

9.  Don't forget your arm candy!  I love this Dazzle bracelet from JewelIq.  This is not a necessity, I just like this bracelet.

10. Last minute beauty essentials.  I can make due as long as my hair looks good (thank you dry shampoo), my breath is fresh and I can dab on a little mascara and lip gloss.

Stuff I Bought: Sephora Haul

1. Benefit Erase Paste ($26): I was in the market for a new under eye concealer and had heard good things about this one.  It's good, but not as good as I thought it should be for $26.  It goes on smooth, but creases by the end of the day and I don't think it provides enough coverage.  However, I have intense under eye circles.  INTENSE.  My under eye circles must be the result of a genetic mutation.  There is no other explanation.  Can any one recommend a good under eye concealer that provides an insane amount of coverage?

Benefit The Porefessional ($30): In addition to raccoon-like circles under my eyes, I also have HUGE pores.  Gaping pools dotted all over my face.  I know, I am gorgeous.  Anyway, this gunk is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores.  I have tried every thing to reduce the size of my face craters.  AND THIS IS THE FIRST THING THAT HAS EVER WORKED.  This stuff is magical.  It makes my face feel so smooth.  I can't even compare it to any thing because my face has never been this smooth.  I don't know what sort of fairy dust is in here. 

Ok, two items is by no means a haul.  However, take a gander at what I got FOR FREE!!!!

I received a coupon via email to get this bag o' goodies with any purchase.  The email was only sent to V.I.B.'s (Sephora's designation for suckers that spend way too much money on beauty products).

1.  Stella Perfume: It's perfume.  It smells pretty.  I will use it to cover up my stink.

2. Sephora Face Primer: Nothing to write home about.  It's a run of the mill primer.  It's anti-shine, which makes no sense to me because aren't you supposed to put foundation and powder on top of it?

3. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer:  Another primer, but I think this one feels a but smoother and lighter than the Sephora version.

4. Sephora Instant Moisturizer: Sephora, please stop giving me samples of this crap.  It sucks.  I'm not even providing a link to it out of hatred.

5. Murad Essential C Moisturizer: I like any thing by Murad.  I'm a Murad groupie.  This stuff is awesome and smells like oranges.  It's also supposed to protect my face from free radicals, which, according to every beauty product, are a threat to national security at this point.

6. Algensit Overnight Restorative Cream:  I already have some anti-wrinkle stuff I'm testing so this one has to wait.  It's supposed to restore radiance to my skin when worn overnight.  Good, because I lose most of my radiance in my sleep.  2 oz of this stuff is $90, so this 0.5 oz sample is worth $22.50.  This stuff better make $20 bills shoot out of my huge pores for that price.  

7. Lancome Mascara:  I used up another sample of this stuff.  It's amazing...like a good bra.  It lifts and separates.

8. L'Occtiance Shea Butter Hand Cream: Just as I was saying I needed a new hand cream for my purse, Sephora delivers this one to me.  It's really nice, but smells a little medicated.  At least I have new perfume to cover up the smell.

Thanks to this bag of stuff (and my Glam Bag), my face will be primed and wrinkle free.  I'm going to be so smooth and younger looking that people are going to start wondering why I'm posting so many photos of a teen girl.  And then I'll get put on a list...maybe I should stop using all this face crap.

August Glam Bag

If you don't know what a Glam Bag is, start here.

This month's theme was "Endless Summer."  Like last month, I really don't get how the items relate to the theme.  I kind of just want them to be honest and say, "This month's theme is 'Cool Shit You Should Try.'"

1.  Salty Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Glama-Zoid.  The sample is pretty small and at first I thought it looked like that white eye shadow you see on people that appear on "The People's Court" or "Maury."  You know, teenage hookers.  Well, it's even worse.  It's white with a purple sheen.  I will not be using this.

2. Circus by Andrea's Choice Nail Polish in Spectacle.  I was really surprised to get another bottle of the same brand of nail polish as we did last month.  Did they have extras lying around?  Although I like the color, it's a little streaky and needs several coats to attain the neon color.

3. Eclos Regenerative Cream and Cellular Activator Serum.  These are supposed to reduce wrinkles and sagging.  I'm a disbeliever in this anti-aging crap, but I am willing to give these a whirl since they are large enough to last about a month.  Check back soon to see if I morph into a spring chicken.

4. Demeter Roll On Perfume in Clean Skin.  I loved this stuff.  It's a nice light scent, but it lasted a few hours.

5. Glam Gloss.  This was not included on the list and appears to be a little extra thank you gift.  I wonder if everyone got it or just long time glam bag subscribers.  Well, mine came in a lovely pink shade that smells like bubble gum.  I love it.
